So much to do, tried to pack in a bit of everything but where to start?
Just started about 12 hours ago and had a blast so far. Been part of a frigate death-match and was happy that my slasher took more than 1000 points of damage before it died. Ran some missions in low-sec and even went ratting in 0.0 It started with about 6 of us in HEK bashing frigates into each other but dropped to 4 and then 3 for the other bits.
The frig death-match was cool although there was some slight CONCORD action because we didn't realise that looting a fleet members can didn't give aggro and one of the guys thought that we were only fighting to structure. But hey! All ships bar one ended up asploded which was kind of the point.
The low-sec missions weren't bad, a little bit of trouble at the gate but we survived and got plenty of ISK for our troubles. Not too much different from the ones in high-sec really.
Got bored with that so we went out to 0.0 to see what was there. Managed 2 webs and a disruptor between the 3 of us - just in case we could find anyone to try and kill. Nothing much about so hit the asteroid belts for the NPCs. Discovered that 2x Rifter and 1x Slasher wouldn't bring down a 950K bounty NPC nor a 500K one. Then again we're like 1 day old each. Maybe tomorrow. Lol.
It got together through the Pator Tech School corp chat and ended up in our own channel, so if anyone fancies doing stupid stuff that is likely to get your ship asploded feel free to drop by "n00b-suicide" (n-zero-zero). At the moment we're all Minmatar so you might have a trek to get to us, but with luck we'll get people in from all 4 races so everyone can get involved in something stupid!

He probably means 12 hours played time, would be my guess. For those of us with jobs and such that can be a week or so of real time. ---

Wow! Friendly bunch aren't you. Ok, so this isn't my "first" character - go internet detectives! I didn't even know about that 3 day limit thing. My first character started a few days back as a Caldari but I didn't have much time to do anything, I got given a link to that video the two guys made with the Rifters, where they went out and just tried killing everything. Was awesome so I decided to reroll which is also kinda where I took the name from. Originality is not my strong point
But yeah, just started some time off from work so sat down and did 12 hours straight. Got a bit lucky because one of the guys in the group had come back to the game so knew a thing or to. He took us out and showed us a few things, also did a huge amount of reading. Mostly from the EVE-University site which was really good.
Set some skills up for sleepy time so with luck I can have my own Rifter of awesome. Got given the ship from one of the tutorial missions, Cashflow for Capsuleers I think. So when the server is back online it's time for more of teh same.

Actually you'll find this forum is quite friendly. You can ask questions and advice whether you've been playing an hour or a few years, and usually get a lengthy helpful reply. Often you'll see posts here where the original poster (OP) responds with "thanks for the answer(s)", and the thread continues on for many more posts, adding more and more useful info.
Many have a very sensitive BS meter though, as it is a requirement for survival in EVE.
Note that those calling BS even explained why
Good to read that you are off to a great start in EVE. You've already surpassed many long-time pod pilots with your achievements. Seriously. Few have seen or done as much.

The EVE forums are heavily trolled - so - if someone doesn't sound right ... people are suspicious.
The thing is - no troll I know of has ever owned up and said - 'OK - you got me. I was trolling.' It's all feigned innocence and outrage - every damn time.
That is how you can tell they are a troll.
A real new person - on getting roundly flamed their first time on the boards - would just shut up and go away - but not the troll. Nope ... they never just go away - it's always "You guys are so mean to a new person ... I've got a wife and kids ... EVE is going to die from all you people flaming noobs ...." ... or more in that vein ....
So ... since CCP won't block their IP's ... the trolls just create new characters and go on wasting other peoples time.
But ... as I've said before ... being a Troll is it's own punishment. Anyone who has nothing better to do with their time than waste someone else's is the definition of Loser.

Let me restate the OP:
Bunch of obvious cow dung intended to lure clueless newbs out of high sec where they are training learning skills for long-term character growth, and get them out into low sec and null sec where he and his fellow 3+ year players can get thier lol's by alpha-ing them.
Fail troll is fail.
THIS is eve
Remap to M15, I9, 5,5,5 Train cyber 1 Spend $15 real for PLEX, sell it in game, buy +3 implants Your play time is devoted to doing tutorials, starting to grind some L1 missions to get a feel for them. Spend a good 90% of your training time for the next week. Other 10% of your time is spent getting basic skills like those given out for free in the tutorials. When you get I+7 and M+7, learn cyber 4 and blug in +4 implants. When you get I and M learning skills to +9, others to +5, +10%. Look for a newb friendly corp, join up.... REALLY learn how to play. Train drone skills though you can't really use them yet. You're remapped to max M, so get it done. Once you have learning skills to +9, +9, +5, +5, +5, drones to 5, most drone support skills through medium to 4...
Remap again, to I12, P12, 5, 5, 5.
Go to town on support skills (engineering, mechanical, electronics) while getting other learning skills to +8 or +9. Then hit hard on the ships and weapons.
In 6 months, you will be WAY ahead of anyone that spent their first week training frig and gun skills so they can get alpha-ed in null sec.

That's not EVE, Nardac, except when played by a minmaxer who excludes "enjoyment of the game" from their calculations.
The catch with sticking to a training plan for two years and living in the clone with the +5 implants is that you spend two years getting some kind of numerical advantage over your opposition, while your opposition are busy getting familiar with the game, making friends and owning territory.
EVE is, after all, an MMO. It's more important to have friends than it is to have a 5% advantage on SP.

Hate to break it to you Mara, but those calcluations are what decide when ships go kaboom. If a newb is serious about wanting to be something other than a grease-smear in as little time as possible, he's got to adhere to a fairly strict skilling plan. To be quite honest, that's not even a hardcore "minmax," plan at all. Hardcore involves futher compartmentalizing int/mem skills and perc/wp skills after intial learning/drone skills are covered. This results in about a year (though it will be less once PLEX remaps go live if one chooses to cut a few supports short) of no ship skills > IV, no t2 weapons, no advanced weapon upgrades, etc. Basically, an alt-scheme applied to a main character. (Note: if you do this on your first charcter, you WILL loose your ****ing mind)
More to the point, eve is an mmo largely based on two factors: skillpoints and isk. You have more than enough free time early on to read, speak with experienced players, and learn about the mechanics and content. You have the option of turning RL money into isk. Therefor, the only variable worth concerning yourself with as a newbie with money to spend is skillpoints. Simply put, if you aren't making the most of evemon and your training regemine, you're going to be leeching off your frinds and chances are good you won't enjoy the life of a suicide tackle forever.

Completely untrue. PVP is all about picking your fights and manipulating the situation in such a way as to give you a decisive advantage, a solid understanding of game mechanics is significantly more important than SP. If I were to decide to go roaming in an incursus with 3 years worth of SP, I'd be limited to picking exactly the same fights as a month old player with the same fit. The only difference between me and that month old player (excluding knowledge of game mechanics), is that I could decide to go out roaming in a HAC instead of an incursus and have a completely different set of viable fights to pick from (and potentially get beaten by the month old player in the incursus if I did something stupid). - - - Dian'h Might - C&Ps resident "internet kleptomaniac" |

I've been playin for 8 months and let me tell u I'm not even wit even 2 yr old pilots....there are things called gunnery skills and let me tell you that I'm not maxed in them...so after a year or so I agree u will be on par with older players...but at 6 months no way...ur only saving grace is if u went frigate only and put nothing but sp in gunnery and spaceship command...in a gang u can be useful...solo at 3 months....u better hope the other pilot is just as green as u

If your gunnery skills aren't capped or pretty close to capped in 8 months then you haven't been prioritizing combat. Which is fine, but don't present your own apathy regarding combat skills as "oh, no, it's impossible to be competitive at x age."
Most three month combat pilots will be either choosing their targets carefully (ganking mission ships dumb enough to wander into low, suiciding miners in high) or playing tackle in a small gang, sure, but that's not the same as being useless in pvp. Hell, if they prefer frigates (like, you know, a sane person) then they can probably even stay self-sufficient in isk terms while flying something a little more powerful. Like a SB ---

thats what i said...useful in groups or fight someone as green as you are (pilots doing missions that have to go in low sec). and u are right about some things...i didnt focus all on frigate...i did want to run higher missions so i went up to cruiser and battlecruisers..also i had to learn some of those learning skills and shield stuff....dont forget about drones lol...so u can see the hold up as far as i go...the thing about new pilots in eve (i myself) is that u look on market and see a cool ship and be like damn i cant wait to fly that...but usually it takes quite a while to fly and in the meantime players either cant occupy their time.
