This has got to be the most obvious fake piece of crap I've ever seen. That site stinks of nerdrage who was scorned.

Doesn't matter if the blog was legit or not, the game was pure lowest common denominator junk. It stank of management and money grabbing so I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of what ealouse said was true.
As a long time fan of both the fantasy and 40k warhammer games I thought I'd give it a try, the starter area was full of scantily clad female elves played by hormonal teenage boys and any chat I got involved in was full of smack and your mom jokes, it made CAOD look intelligent. Played for two nights then went back to eve.
I hope GW got burned by the experience and do a better job with the 40k mmo. __________ Yani Dumyat has been temporarily abducted by aliens. This alt post is in fact a cleverly disguised distress call, please send help! |

hmmm personal experience from the 1 month I played WH, it wasn't that bad.
id had a feeling of being incomplete, sure, but mechanics wise, it wasn't really a bad game.
they did try too hard to make a sucky WoW clone out of it afterwards tho. ---

Warhammer Online really wasn't that bad. Gameplay was good but the community just wasn't there. I think it's just a case of disinterest instead of bad design. I know most warhammer fans were hoping for a 40k MMO and were disappointed.
There isn't much reason to group up, hence minimal chat and cooperation ingame.

It doesn't explains anything. Everyone knows that games tends to be released before they are ready, but I don't see the relevance when the guy in question is whining over being laid off and he does it with attacks and accusations in 360. Funny how he deliberately avoids mentioning his own role, too much of a giveaway maybe?
But poor company management is hardly something that Mythic would be alone doing. |

Edited by: Omgah on 17/10/2010 08:17:07 The guy crying is an artist upset that he was outsourced. An mmo's success or failure is determined in very early stages of development. When the design is still going on, when decisions about whats going into to the game are being made. Warhammer died way before release. It wasn't awful at launch but had absolutely nothing to retain players with.
The most impressive part of SWTOR is the fact that they are doing a full voice over for everything in the game. Really its one of the last few things that hasn't been done in an mmo. I still hate the dirrection they're taking swtor in but its IP by far the strongest out there, despite the efforts of George, SOE or EA.

IP means nothing if the gameplay isn't meant/capable of retaining players. Actually, using an IP is a great way to limit your options as a developer, in other words it seems more of a stranglehold than actually something to build on.

People really have nothing to go on when it comes to gameplay though with swtor, everyone is concluding it must be awful because a ****ed off artist laid off at a different studio said so. Most games before WOW played like wow, just harder cause they where copying EQ. MMO market was only slightly more original before WOW came around. I'm pretty sure the last mainstream sandbox that even had a chance was SWG strangely enough. Except instead of trying to fix everything broken at release they abandoned their decent-for-the-time subscriber base for the fabled WOW market.

They've released some ingame videos (meaning they must be pretty proud of them), which show horrible, wooden gameplay and nothing amazing.
