I am ingame from 9am to about 2 am. I travel all over the belts on 2 accounts mining waiting for training. My ultimate goal to being perfect miner is to get the Rorqual. I have NEVER seen one in any area I have been in in the last 2 weeks, 0.5-1.0 I know certain ships are restricted from certain sec.'s, I was wondering if the Ror has any restrictions like that.

What he said. But if you are staying in High sec look up the Orca. It is as close as you will get to a rorq in highsec and cheaper.

Also be aware that Capital Industrial Command Ships like the Orca and Rorqual are not "mining ships" per se... rather they are "mining support ships" that give bonuses (and then some) to others in your group who are actually doing the mining. To this end, they are incapable of directly mining asteroids (unless you use mining drones, but they take forever to produce any noticeable yield).
No, the pinnacle of mining is the Hulk. _______________________

You might occasionally see carriers or dreadnoughts in high sec - all those were built there and have never left their systems of birth. Some were built at POS arrays, others in stations. However, all high sec stations lost the ability to produce capital ships a very long time ago, and the last remaining high sec POS arrays that would have been capable of building Rorquals were unanchored by CCP just before the patch in which Rorqual blueprints were seeded, so there are none in high sec. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

Edited by: Melodee619 on 13/10/2010 22:27:31 Dont want to burst your bubble or anything, but you might want to remember also, if you are going to go for a Rorqual, when you move to 0.0 they are a HUGE KM.Make sure you join a Alliance that can defend you. Because otherwise you are going to spend a lot of time sitting in POS, while haulers bring you the ore to squash.
The few Rorq pilots I know rarely take the flying brick out of the shield, because it is at real risk of a hot drop.It has ZERO defense, an less chance of getting away.. :D It's a really expensive loss.
Edit I believe NC have a fairly large indy arm, but they also took in some oldschool goonfleet, so be aware you "May" get screwed over.

You do know it can fit a Capitol ship tank right? and not only that it also has the same drone damage bonus as the Moros? its easily capable of defending itself against a small gang until support arrives and can make mincemeat out of an overconfident solo BS/HAC/Recon or w/e
There was even a whine thread when some guy got butthurt because he couldn't kill one and there has been several comedy killmails that I have seen since the ship was introduced like this Kronos kill.

Edited by: Melodee619 on 14/10/2010 01:02:48 No recon would attack a Rorq alone, it doesn't happen. I was a scout for 2 years in 0.0 an all I ever saw (an took part in) was hot drops. A rorq will last very short time against a full on balls out roam an you know that:)....
Besides in all the time I spent in 0.0 I never saw a rorq alone undefended. But all that aside, I am not a rorq pilot, never have been. I would "assume" they wouldn't go for as much tank as they would mods to increase storage/refining etc etc.
LOL I just looked at the kronos kill, good god, I hope he never breeds... none should be that inept.
Or coarse I may be wrong an can admit when I am :).

The Rorqual has more tank than a battleship, but less DPS than one. It is also vulnerable to cap warfare. A small gang could take one out unsupported.
Mine never left the POS bubble, but I had it fit like this if you want to do some EFT warrior-ing.
[Rorqual, w-space] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Damage Control II
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Photon Scattering Field II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Capital Shield Booster I
Improved Cloaking Device II Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe I Mining Foreman Link - Harvester Capacitor Efficiency Mining Foreman Link - Mining Laser Field Enhancement Mining Foreman Link - Laser Optimization Industrial Core I
Large Cargohold Optimization I Large Cargohold Optimization I Large Cargohold Optimization I

I do have to say this: why would we shoot the guys who we're buddies with? There are plenty of other people out in their Rorquals happily playing around to be shot up.
Also, to add to the topic, if you want to, you can certainly put a hefty tank on a Rorq. It doesn't make you any less of a target, and moving out of safe spaces without intel is about the stupidest thing you can do. The only Rorq I see around our space jumps between a POS and a station to dump compressed ore.

Nothing personal mate, I just played EvE way to long to turn my back on GF members =). We both know their reputation, quite well heh.
