Yeah, Volu should never be measured in metric.
But on a more serious note, maybe it's the only way to stop the friggin sun from flickering when you're even close to lining up with another object between you & it.

Note : EVE doesn't take place in space, but in some extremely weird fluid I mean, seriously, look at how ships accelerate or decelerate, or how there's a nebula backdrop in just about any system. It's not space, it's space soup !

The screen shots looks really nice... adds ambiance. (btw, if you haven't notice, eve online doesn't exactly follow real life physics and graphics... that would be boring).

Yeah, looks like someone at CCP accidentally comes up with an effect and they leave it in 'cause it's cool lookin'. Their art director definitely needs a rethink on this. ...

You're all just mad that your vidcard cant handle it. lol.
Seriously, you're talking about realisim in a videogame where the 'void of space' actually has drag. Where you can fly through planets using conventional propulsion, and your frigate wont even melt if you fly into the core of the local star.
The game needs better graphics anyways. Look how many people were happy when they redesigned the Scorpion, and that was the most out of the way, pointless upgrade ever, but EVERYONE loved it.

Following messages aren't too serious, I'll probably turn this on/off every so often to make the game look a bit more fresh.

Wasn't the RP excuse that your warp drive is what's causing the drag? Also people always go on about how you can see nebulas because they're seeing more than the visual spectrum, which is a reason why they'd filter through anything like this. You could also argue they it's something that's outside of the visual spectrum, but that would require an atmosphere as well i would think.

I don't think you're actually supposed to do that Tim, so it's probably not worth coding.
however, imagen if certain classes could go in closer than others. You'd probably end up with people providing warp ins right next to the star (especially spies).

That's probably something to do with the old scorpion being butt ugly, some people actually liked it. But after spending an entire month living in querious without being able to dock or swap ships i really began to hate it (i was actually happy when i got killed), i don't think i flown one since then. As for better graphics, i think they need to upgrade the current effects before adding new ones. It's probably different guys though who do that.
I'd really like them to fix the glare, it should be rendered in the very foreground and not actually on the light that's making the glare. This way you wouldn't get the sides of the glare effect stick through the sides of ships (see the thanatos front bay thing).
The film grain effect from mass effect is one i think eve might benefit from (although you won't get that from a digital image), would add to the dark feel of the game world. ------

It'd only really be dusty in belts i think, and the rings around planets if you get near enough to them, some of them though are only 3 meters thick i think.
Oh, and dust clouds. ------

It's a neat new lighting effect that only shows up in a system under attack by the sansha.
So I guess it's like the fog of war or something.

I too would like Eve to be darker and grittier.
Volumetric lightning is fine, but there's far too much light.
