hi, each time i try to get a screendump it grabs my desktop, im sure ive done it in the past though...
i have looked through the settings but could not see a key to do it, can anyone help?

Look for Print Screen on your keyboard. You might need to switch to fullscreen.

Does the game window have focus ? If yes, you would get TWO results : the normal result you get when you press PrintScreen (you would get the whole screen copied into the clipboard) anywhere in Windows... and the additional effect of getting a file in \MyDocuments\EVE\capture\Screenshots with just the game window (no borders) in it.
What else EXACTLY happens to you when you press PrintScreen if not this ?
EDIT : hmm... are you running a 2-monitor setup perhaps ? Have you tried running it in windowed mode instead ?

thx Akita, sorted now.. i had to put it in windowed mode to get the shot, what was happening until then was that i would hit print screen and paste into a new bitmap image, then it would paste whatever my desktop was displaying,... (this forum and ****) :)
but i got it to work in windowed mode.. cheers!

Try looking in My Documents/Eve/capture/Screenshots
