Hello everyone, I am trying to perfect my golem setup for running Angel Ring Sanctums. Any advice and/or suggestions would be much appreciated. I would also be interested in knowing whether my setup would be capable of handling either ring or station sanctum, since I haven't purchased it yet.
[Golem, New Setup 1] Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Gist A-Type X-Large Shield Booster Caldari Navy Invulnerability Field Caldari Navy Invulnerability Field Pith X-Type Shield Boost Amplifier Pith X-Type Shield Boost Amplifier Republic Fleet Target Painter Republic Fleet Target Painter
Siege Missile Launcher II, Bane Torpedo Siege Missile Launcher II, Bane Torpedo Siege Missile Launcher II, Bane Torpedo Siege Missile Launcher II, Bane Torpedo
[empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Large Hydraulic Bay Thrusters II Large Rocket Fuel Cache Partition II
Valkyrie II x5
P.S. I have been wondering if throwing on another target painter, at the expense of perhaps a invul. field, would be reasonable? Also, I have some other alternatives, including throwing on one warp core stab? It is a very expensive ship after all.

The Angel Ring sanctum can be done in a (well-skilled) Drake, so for a Golem with A and X-type mods it should be piece of cake. A bit expensive to fly in 0.0 though, unless you're deep in friendly space.

Backing up this guys comment: If you have to use a Golem for one of these, you're doing it wrong.

I would suggest using t2 mods to decrease the loss you get incase you do get caught..
Using a drake is just silly and very unproductive.

Other ships will of course do it much faster than a Drake, but that was not my point. My point was just that a Golem with that fit may be a bit too expensive for the area and with his fit perhaps a bit overkill.

I got rid of one shield boost amp and replaced it with another target painter, I have also changed out the remaining Pith X-type shield boost amplifier and replaced it with a t2 shield boost amp. I enjoy the gist line of x-large shield boosters because of the great cap stability, a c-type would save me an extra 500-600m(over the x-type), I think I am confounded in the difficulty of sanctums.
I want the ship to be very reliable when it comes to angel ring sanctums and havens, something that can easily tank the variety of damage Angel's often do. Naturally, I am interested in trimming off extra costs at the expense of vestigal tanking. However, I am unsure as to whether there will ever be any station sanctums involved, I run in a relatively "high" security 0.0 system(if that has anything to do with the spawning of station sanctums??) obviously station sanctums are more difficult and cheaper alternatives might not handle them so well.
As always, thanks for your input.

you don`t need that amount of pimping for a ringed sanctum...used to fly a pimped golem and its just not worth it...use t2 fitt including SB ,keep the CB BCU tho` ...

Ring Sanctums aren't that hard. As said above, they can be done in a drake, albeit somewhat laboriously.
Station Sanctums are somewhat more challenging, but a lightly pimped Golem shouldn't have too much trouble with the tanking.
However I would very strongly advise you to consider a Domi/RF Afterburner if it will fit. Angels move pretty fast, which will cause your torps damage issues, and the Seraphims, which are the commonest BS type in Angel sanctums, like to hang at 51Km, which means that you'll have range issues with T1 ammo too. Additionally, they often spawn at a considerable distance.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

Edited by: bubble21 on 13/11/2010 16:14:39 I removed one of the pith x-type shield booster amplifiers, and replaced the other one with t2.
I ran an angel ringed sanctum, and you guys are notoriously wrong. Maybe I did something wrong, but the last spawn smacked my ship up like mad, even with the pimped mods.

You should ask one of your corp mates to explain stuff like triggers, pulse boosting, and budgets.
I don't know how you can have so much isk and yet be so . . . . braindead.

Angel Sanctums triggers are the last ship in spawn, so there is no "trick" to that. Pulse boosting isn't a difficult concept, I get it. Have you even done an angel sanctum??? Basically, I wanted a reliable ship that could tank an angel ring sanctum , these guys said it could be done with just t2 mods, and it can't.

you really are braindead dont run around yelling that you can`t do what every1 does ...i`m running angel ring sanctum daily and i`m doing it in a t2 fitted golem...if you can`t micro manage your cap and pulse the x-l sb at the last spawn than go and make your golem cap stable with an x-l gist x-type sb and stop whinning... btw how many sp`s do you have? i`m doint it with 30m sp`s but not 1 sp waisted ,marauders V , torp spec IV and all supporting skills lvl V . so if you have sh|t skills stick to haven and use cruise...

Gist X-type 100 MN mwd (no cap penalty) even. Did you ever get that urge to smash your head on the keyboard for drifting out of range for the next spawn? Tank wise be careful: Seraphims have nasty guns that do funny damage types. 1k omni perma tank required for the lazy people.

I'd like to know what kind of fit your t2 golem has on it, because 2 invl fields, 1 gist x type, and a shield boost amp isn't enough to "reliably handle" the last spawns.
I never had any trouble getting into range, rats always spawned within range or atleast very close it max shooting distance.

1 target painter makes it difficult to kill off frigs and cruisers. I guess I shouldn't have said its impossible using t2, its just that it requires alot more capacitor/shield modules.

Well ... I've soloed Angel Sanctums in : a) Standard cruise Raven ... AB+range tanking b) Nighthawk
I've seen them soloed in: a) Dominix b) Arty Maelstrom c) Tengu
So ... I don't think a Golem should have any trouble.
However, I don't think you have looked at the damage types and ranges of the NPCs Seraphims do primarily EM damage Cherubims do primarily Thermal damage Both have optimal ranges around 50kms. All Angel NPCs use mostly explosive missiles and the rest of the BC etc tend to do explosive damage.
So ... two invulnerability fields is probably not the best way to tank a sanctum ... you might be better off with a photon scattering field instead of one of the invulnerability fields. Also, an AB might be useful since any traversal at all reduces the damage you take. You may need to try various choices until you find out what works best.

look closer i got 2x invul and 1x photon t2 so my em hole is pluged :)) there is a problem tho` , that is range of torps because as u can see i have no rigs for flight time but with 5% hardwirings i get a 42 km range with javelins,so you have to keep moving for the last spawn. and 1 tp is enough belive me because while i kill the bs`s my drones eat the frigs and the leet cruisers need the same amount of volleys as the bs`s ,usually less ... running a ringed sanctum in 20-22 mins with a torp golem nets at least 60m/hr which for me it`s enough...if you use a second tp yopu gimp your tank and as i mentioned earlier my ressists are over 72%...

Well given that I can cheerfully solo an Angel Ring Sanctum in a T2 fit Maelstrom, I can only imagine what went wrong for you.
Is your conception of tanking purely "Sit right at the centre of the sanctum, activate shield booster and stay stationary"? Have you considered moving your ship at all?

Sit at the Center of Sanctum: You do realize I'm in a torpedo boat, and movement is a necessity? Active shield booster: "Pulse boosting isn't a difficult concept, I get it."
Maelstroms rock angel anoms, so its not truly surprising that you have such a great time. I know it seems cool to knock the pilot and point out the obvious, but it really isn't.

I hope you're posting with an alt, becasue otherwise Ninja Burglar and his friend Big Wig are both comming for your silly superduper golem fit.
If you can't run ring sanctums in plain T2 marauder fit you're doing it wrong. Grow some brains and stop with the sillypimping of 0.0 ratting ships.
Geez, in carebearland ISK > Brains for sure.
Next time you're in Jita, plz buy an x-type clue.

never done a sanctum but may i suggest: train marauders to lvl 5 signature focusing to lvl 4 train all your missles helpers to 5 then use 1 republic fleet target painter to free up mediums for tank. use 2 tech I rigs, the ones that will give your torps velocity, i have forgot the name. use tech II torpedos, rage for battleships up to 34k distance and the javs for anything smaller than battleship or farther than 34k (will hit up to about 58k)
trust me you will see a huge difference. CCP supports this message. I think. |

When you're done quoting yourself why don't you post the fit you failed with running a ring sanctum instead?
I'll take a wild guess that you either had a resist hole (didn't know wtf you were doing) or tried to run a Golem without a proper burst tank (didn't know wtf to do).
Protip: XL booster, Cap charges + Navy Torps = win.
You should be able to kill one BS every half minute in a torp golem. Thats 8 BS's before a proper burst tank starts to fail on you. Now, how many BS's are there in that last Ring sanctum spawn?
So, L2P and stop with the sillypimping. |

As I'm in a good mode today I'll throw you a bone:
Quote: [Golem, Anomaly Golem] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II
X-Large Shield Booster II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron

Large Hydraulic Bay Thrusters II Large Hydraulic Bay Thrusters II
Warrior II x5 Valkyrie II x5
Now, go get yourself a Low-grade Crystal Alpha->Epsilon set (not the omega) and some Torpedo 3% Hardwiring implants instead of any fancy pimp mods. Thats about 300m in jita.
There.
Cheap, efficient and you'll have greater chance of escaping with the pod should you get killed, than picking up any fancy mods dropping.
