Ok so damage....damage is based on sig radius vs explosion radius and explosion velocity vs speed of the target (except bombs)
Now a torp has a 450m expl radius...thats a pretty friggin big radius. How in the heck can someone kill something less then a BC size ship. Lets take the smallest ship a sig size of around 40 x 30% bonus from target painter.....that is not even close to 450.....same thing with a bomb.
So to all those torp pilots out there....how in the world can I chew through something smaller then a BC...this is ridiculous can a manti seriously not kill any of the most popular ships flown????

You can't (well... maybe cruisers, but even that's pushing it). Stealth Bombers are designed to kill larger ships with frightening efficiency... the trade off is that smaller ships can do the same to you.
Stay cloaked and pick your battles carefully. _______________________

That's what they're designed for, destroying battleship sized ships ... groups of bombers can take out cruisers with bombing runs if they're dumb enough to hang out ...
May I suggest this is why it has a cloaking device?

FYI, it takes 4 volleys to kill a pod, that's with faction missiles but no painter. |

How about an Assault Frig? You want a CONCORD ship. One hit one kill, regardless of ship size. Not gonna happen!
Stop whining and use your bomber like it is intended!

He isn't whining that bad, now.
Yeah, you can't really kill cruisers in a bomber. Maybe if you get a rapier or two and target painters helping out. EW support is what those are there for.
We shot up some Navy Omen a few days ago with like 5 bombers and a Rapier... 300 damage per torp group volley on a webbed cruiser (and that was explosive).

I beg to differ.
You can nuke cruisers and below if you can catch them with MWD on. And its really funny too. Try this:
1. Set up on jump bridge (preferably with a few pals). 2.Something jumps in...tackle...launch bomb...paint...orbit while launching torps. 3. Tears in local and new thread about afk cloakers

Thanks for the input.
Ok so here is what I have learned through 10 mantis so far...I hve yet to really encounter anything except battle cruisers and higher. Which is where the frusteration is coming in.
I did see a manticore last night 2 volley a frigate with simply a 30% target painter.
I like to fly solo so where do I go from here. I have been cross training into intys now because I feel those will be more useful for solo play in FW, etc.
In 0.0 though all the gate camps have been like I said cruisers and below. I see the occasional battlecruiser (drakes) but thats about it.
Do I simply live in WH space and kill carebear industrials? SOunds kinda boring...
Is the manti simply best used in fleets and NOT solo unless you want to kill carebears?

If you want to roll a solo Stealth Bomber, crosstrain either Amarr or Minmatar. Explosive and EM are the two damage types you'll want to use, since you'll primarily be targeting ratting BSes and their resistance hole will be one or the other, depending on the region.

I think they should bring cruise launchers back for bombers and allow people to have a choice between siege and cruise. like most other ships when having a choice on launcher type

explain why, please, since changing from cruise to torps was, in every way, a boost. ---

You do have a choice. You can put standards and rockets on themà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

The frig probably had shield extenders and/or MWD on and/or was already damaged... that Manticore was lucky.

Intys are lots of fun. I personally have flown the Taranis and Crusader... both are very good flying solo/semi-solo. I've heard some good things about the Claw as well.
If intys get a bit boring though, and you want to fly something with a bit more... "oomph"... look towards Recon ships. They are sorely underestimated and some of them, if fitted and flown right, can net you some nice kills.

In 0.0 the name of the game is to remain as mobile as possible... so you won't find many battleships roaming outside of macro/semi-afk ratters, but then again those ships will dock or cloak as soon as a neutral or hostile appears in local. What some people do to counter this is go afk while cloaked until the macro/semi-afk ratter get tired of waiting or feels safe enough to come out (be warned, he might not be alone anymore when he comes out).

All Stealth Bombers truly shine when in a fleet of similarly capable ships. Ten Stealth Bombers can melt a battleship with torps in a matter of seconds. One or two dozen Stealth Bombers launching bombs can wipe out entire multi-hundred man fleets in an instant.
However, you CAN use any ship in a solo capacity so long as you fit it properly... just bear in mind that this will simply limit what you can and cannot engage. _______________________
