Edited by: Dirk Swan on 17/10/2010 13:33:57 Edited by: Dirk Swan on 17/10/2010 13:31:01 Many think that we players started the bug war and thier should be a live let live attitude towards bugs. But many also think all the bugs should be destroyed. No matter what side your on everyone agrees the bugs are a big problem in EVE. Do you want to know more?? You only have to look thru the forums to know CCP is loosing its war on bugs. Unless CCP stops the worthless expansions that cause bugs, and concentrate on killing the bugs we have now, they will lose the war on bugs. Do you want to know more??

+1 for this
At this pace were looseing the war.
Please CCP rearm us to fight. Stronger weapons, special teams to search and destroy those nasty bug nests. Excelence over quantity.

The war on bugs is a waste of time and money. Bugs will always be in the game, and the hatred toward them is nonsensical.
I declare that we should legalize bugs and just accept the fact that bugs will never go away. Some people use bugs to their advantage, and others think it is morally wrong. It is true, some people look at bugs in the game and see everything wrong with them. Others, however, use bugs because it is part of this game. In a game like EVE, where it's kill or be killed, who can blame someone for using everything they can to get ahead?
The fighting has to stop.
Now replace every "bug" with "weed".

I regret that I have but one clone to give in this war against the bugs. It's a good day to die.

The bugs that are visible imply there are even more bugs that we don't see causing problems in the backend code. But the problems go deeper than that.
There are many examples of the lack of polish: - cooldown timers with no real correlation to the actual trigger - being able to count 1001, 1002 between left clicking and getting audible feedback - left-click-drag with all audible feedback triggered but the object was not picked up - inability to read bottom line of Market text even though scroll bar is bottomed out Things like these seem trivial, yet their presence screams out that CCP has done a slip-shod job, again implying that there is worse stuff that we can't see.
Based upon this slop-shod design, I propose that the bugs are very likely nested and dependent. If you want to fix one, you must first fix another, then another, then another, until all levels of nesting and dependencies are navigated. Sort of like what just happened: a patch for the patch for the patch for the patch = fixed.
Should they fix the bugs? Yes, but I'll bet it's a bigger, deeper problem that they want to admit.

Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedom.

If you have a bug but no health insurance but need to get into the ER here is a trick:
Say you got shocked and are having chest pains. Its the law that they have to admit you, insurance or not.
I learned that when working on particle accelerators.

These are the rules. Everybody fights, nobody quits. If you don't do your job I'll kill you myself. Welcome to CCP. - It's not "Play through a pre-set story, become stronger, do endgame". Gameplay is open ended, and you make your own story. Unless you're too afraid of 'pvp grief' to do anything relevant |

You do know that the magical 18 months is just that. Until that they are doing expansions, normal bug hunting patching, but when the 18 month pipe is done they are going 110% on fixing bugs and eve. They are like doing a "expansion" on bugs alone.
Of course many say that 18months WTF?!!! RRAAAAGGGGEEEEE! Yes, it's annoying but it's not just about players...investors. If you promise them for example a PS3 title to be done in a certain timeline...you better do it in a certain timeline so the cash can flow again.
Also expansion and "re-inventing" "adding" in even is what keeps it alive. You really think Eve would still be here if there hadn't been ANY progress?
Step in their shoes for a while.
