both clients (1 mac, other PC) both loose connection and wont stay connected in the above times, this isnt an ISP fault as all other services stay on during these times, so i know its an eve issue, but what could it be

sounds like ISP load shaping ..i had exact same problem with Tiscali in the UK ...changed isp using exactly the same kit on my end no issues since. ISP insisted the fault was with EVE. No other applications where effected so appeared on surface to be an eve issue. Black-Thorne Recruitment Thread [u]WWW.BLACK-THORNE.COM[/ |

It's not an issue. It is a Eve feature.

ISP (Virgin) shouldnt be shaping my traffic in anyway as I pay for the higher tier package

PingPlotter
1. Trace 87.237.38.200 2. Trace www.eve-online.com 3. Trace something else (google for example)
What do you get?

From my time on EVE I never had connection problems. Only once but that was a EVE server crash. Like above, try to trace it and to find out what is wrong. And then contact the ISP and demand them to try to fix it. But sometimes this may not work because it is not on your ISPs end.

Why call them before you've verified it's their end? That's just a (potentially) wasted call

FYI... P2P Traffic shaping is on all Virgin products. Sky is the only ISP who do NO shaping. EVE runs on a high port which is common for P2P apps. This is why Tiscali have issues with it and probably why you're experiencing issues with Virgin. --------------- What! Caldari have dps now... noooo Aye, T2 HAMs FTW!!!!! |

Have had similar disconections issues for sometime, were my internet shuts down, no cause established, DSN still reads but connection is not available and it appears that SKY seems to be the culprit as once I disconnected the connection for the sky box several weeks ago the problem has not re-occured, I have a continuos stable connection and the regular disco's have ceased.
Suggestion: if your concerned that Uncle SKY will send you nasty letters demanding ball breaking sums of money for not being able to spy on your viewing habits don,t worry, he won,t do this, long before playing eve my sky was not connected to any telephone link for several years, worked perfectly and did not incite him to try and extort any extra funds from me, but if your really concerendd he might starve to death in the abcence of your viewing data, plug in the box every so often and let him have a quick sniff round then unplug the greedy git again....
