was wandering if itt would be possible to extend the concept of EVE radio to a ingame player admined personnal radio schemantic.
what i mean is make it possible to share our musics via ingame jukebox. jukebox would be turned then into a EVE based radio.
concerning the "player admined" part, it means that ingame payed accounts could be able to lend "frequencies" of jukebox radio to brooadcast music the same way we listen our own musics. radio range would be defined in loan to regionnal constal or empire and would cost more as music volume and radio range increases. payment in ISK ingame each month if account active if account inactive (need repayment) radio is deleted and frequency open for loan again.

good luck with this one. CCP would get sued into oblivion if people shared their favorite songs via eve radio . So not supported!

as far as i know, you can't DL the music from jukebox therfor you can't from my proposal. it's a way to advertise foreeign music and therefor supports music sells (in theory)

you can run a web radio with a web access of 128kb/s that's nothing compared to the standards in speed of net connections nowadays (speed is the theorical max speed of net connection). so i don't think quality will be a problem.

Um are you on dial up or something?
Or you could just visit EVE Radio's website and listen to the real EVE radio :P
Adding shoutcast support to the jukebox would be awesome though, then you could tune into your favorite internet radio stations from in game...they could easily integrate this particular set of libraries for the jukebox: http://www.un4seen.com/, I actually wrote a media player around those libraries, works really well, very minimal impact on system performance (almost zero) and barely uses any memory.

no webradio support, as then eve could get nailed by music industries.

btw, i checked with windows microphone, a telephone quality sound takes 21kbit/s dataflow and a radio one 43kbit/s. that's ridiculous compared to the needs of the actual gameplay. radio quality isn't a 7.1 HD sound system sound quality you know.

Point A is the radio broadcaster (an EVE player, I guess). Point B is CCP's servers in Iceland or wherever the hell they are. Point C is the radio listener.
Currently "A" stream audio directly to "C". What you propose is that "A" should stream audio to "B" which should then re-stream it to "C". Why make yourself dependent on "B"?
Incidentally this is also the problem with EVE Voice as opposed to third-party chat software like Teamspeak or Skype.
The servers at point "B" are already overworked, laggy, and unreliable. And you don't want to get disconnected from your radio show, or your voice chat, if the EVE client crashes. So why put a middleman where it's not needed?

Edited by: Nanohasan on 25/10/2010 07:51:52 it depends on the option you choose. if you want your radio to be "online" all the time then it's your 'B' that streams to "C"
if not then it's "A" that streams to "C" which means a small EVE stream server is started on local machine of streamer which then sends music to distant EVE client
