Close nit corp of IRL friends doing wormholes.
Decided to open up our hole to some people.
We have a large assembly and 3 SMAs.
We started off having the large assembly be public storage and GSCs for each person, but you cant lock GSC and 3 SMAs arn't enough for people to keep their **** safe.
How do you other wormhole corps provide new members a safe place to store things? |

You can give certain tab access of CHAs to certain roles. Give your friends full access to all the tabs but limit the new guys to the first 2 or 3 tabs. |

Talocan United has a great website they put together. In there, look for an article titled "POS Permissions and Access".....or something to that nature.
You can find their website either via google, or go to the top sticky of this forum....Notable Wormhole Corps.

In aquila we found the role/pos system to be complete shite so now we tell all new recruits to either setup their own pos and it will be password protected or if they know anyone in corp there is the option of bunking up with them, this way if someone wishes to steal they can only get the stuff at our corp tower and the person they are sharing with. |

You can lock GSCs. You just can't anchor them inside the POS shield and set the password. You should make a safespot. Even if your POS comes under siege, you still at least have your modules safe in space. |

Or just train up one of your extra char slots to basic industrial skills and offline them in an itty or something - then you won't have to remember to refresh the can once a month or so. Or have an alt that can fly an orca to store stuff in. |

GSCs can be scanned down. It is difficult, but possible.
But for most purposes that suggestion is safe.

Use Orcas for your very valuable modules/ships. I can't tell you how many times an Orca has saved items from a thief. Losing a 350m Tengu hull/subs is fine. Losing a 2b Tengu because I was too lazy to remove the modules and place them in my Orca is not.
You can also set up a separate SMA for them, and restrict access to other hangars. Some people's sole purpose for coming to a WH is to rob you blind. They will stay in for months until you trust them, and give them more access. Once this happens they take everything but the kitchen sink. Keeping distinct areas for specific people is always a good thing. |

There are several ways to lock things down...
Cheap way is to restrict your tabs to just a few and have 1 or 2 reserved for stuff the has to be kept secure. Only provide access to those select tabs to the CEO and your directors/people. Then bring in an X large ship assembly array and drag ships from the SMA to the secure tab in the X-Large assembly array.
The other is setting up 1 tower per 5 people (who have tabs each) and passwording each individual tower.
Unfortunately, nothing is bullet proof and people will always be people so there is no sure fire way of keeping things 100% secure.
Bob be with you.

I just put my (cloaky) orca alt in a safe spot and log it in when I need to reship, refit, or get stuff out of it. Suddenly POS permissions aren't an issue, and I can't be seiged :) The Skunkworks is recruiting. -áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1540711#post1540711 |

If you do this, always log off you scanner alt last to check that no one is probing your Safe log spot. My half of a cent. |

I've heard of people being able to use directional and cap slamming back and forth between safespots around the GSC until they eventually land on grid with it, but AFAIK it is impossible to scan down GSC's with scan probes. Even if you did find it those things have a crapton of hp, so you very well may be shooting at an empty can for a very long time. |

Another good way to minimize the safespot's exposure is to decloak the orca, turn the mwd on and then immediately back off (while it's starting the first cycle) before logging. This will help it hit warp faster, giving them less time to get a fix on your safespot.
Also, make new safes frequently. The Skunkworks is recruiting. -áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1540711#post1540711 |

I am always happy to learn new stuff, and accept that recent patches may have changed things, but GǪ. I do not believe that GSCs, anchored or free-floating, can be probe scanned down. I also doubt that a sensibly placed GSC can be located, in any reasonable time-frame, through the use of the DS. But, hey, IGÇÖm a doubting kind of person.
You can probe scan ships that are uncloaked at their resupply GSCs, and I have been in fleets where weGÇÖve killed our own members who go AFK while uncloaked at our resupply cans in hostile systems GǪ because their lack of care is putting all of our resupply stuff and all our people at great risk. You can GÇÿseeGÇÖ GSCs on DS but cannot get a lock on them unless you are ongrid and can see them also in your overview. You can use your DS range and direction functions, coupled with a lot of warping to-and-fro while watching your overview closely, to home-in on a GSC-in-space. It is theoretically possible to locate a GSC using this method GǪ but I have found trying to do so to be a huge and tedious PITA. I have never succeeded in doing so, and have tried on several occasions.
As stated above I also have some doubts about peopleGÇÖs claims to be able to do this, to locate a GSC in space, but that may well be simply based on the fact that I have not managed to do so myself and so (egotistically) doubt that others can do so. Of course, anchoring a can ongrid with a celestial or in some other tard-location doesnGÇÖt count GǪ you donGÇÖt need any skills to find them. IGÇÖd be happy to enter into a little wager with anyone who reckons that they can do this GÇô IGÇÖd anchor a can in a convenient (for me) hisec system, name it something obvious, and challenge you to find it and bookmark the location within a couple of days. You know, a kinda put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is type of challenge. What say, does anyone want to put some isk up against their claimed skills and accept Subs-can-can challenge?
On the issue that the OP raises. Not so long ago I recall reading a thread from a w-space corp / alliance that provides each new member with their own POS. I assume theirs was a system with a squillion moons, that the individual members are responsible for fueling their POSes, and that forcefield passwords are used as the primary security barrier. Initially it seemed an odd idea to me but later I came to understand the defensive value of having a tower anchored at every moon, even if not onlined. That approach may be an option for you, IDK.

GSCs can be found in the same way as anything else with the D-scanner: warping between spots and bookmarking until you finally land on grid.
The fix is easy: Don't drop it based on celestial warps. Use old sites for example.
Even if you do manage to find the GSC like this, it takes a while and is very very boring. |
