I am wondering if anyone ever does races in Eve anymore. I don't mean racing as in within one system, but a real race from let's say Jita down to 0.0 Omist.
It can also be a challenging experience in null, you can try to pod your opponents before they can warp, have your corporation set up bubbles at certain gates, and if all else fails place a small pvp fleet on a gate camp to take them out before making it to the finish line system. Basically, no holds bar racing.
As for a fit idea for a race:
Dramiel:
High- 3x Dark blood Small Neuter
Mid- 1x Gisti A-Type 1mm Microwarp 1x Small Shield Extender II 1x Dark Blood Stasis Web 1x Dark Blood Warp Scrambler
Low- 1x Nanofiber II 2x Intertial Stabilizer II Ifor warp allign)
Rigs: 3x Small Hyperspatial Veloicity II
In total, at non-Warp, I can exceed 10K with the proper training and implants, have a 12 Au/s warp speed, and wapr allign down to 2.55 secs.
I just had this thought about designing races, when I was using my cloaky alt in null.
Anyone know if there's a racing circuit in Eve or if I am on the right path to designing a racer? |

Well there are a million reasons why this would never work, I'll name a few of them below.
-Racing is fun to do or watch because there are unkown factors. Weather, Driver Error, Different 'Cars', Setups, Tweaks, Corners etc. Eve offers none of these things. Warp to 0/Jump rinse and repeat. Plus ships are static and there will be no difference once someone EFTs the best ship for the job.
-If you can tackle/shoot each other then doesnt the race just turn into a good ol fight once someone lands tackle?
-Unless you do this with people you know who is gonna check who wins, who is gonna make sure someone pays up etc etc
-Also that fit is **** for the job, covert ops win everytime in a long race due to their native warp speed.
Etc etc etc I can think of so many reasons this is never going to work that I'm getting mad about it. So I'm going to have a cookie and Smile and Wave |

You do know about Warp Bubbles keeping you 30KM away from gate and that we used to have organized races in Eve right?
This is just me checking in to see if there are any people still doing that stuff and if my fit would work for their races.
This is for frigs, non-cloaky. So I don't think you can skip out using a cloaky strategic cruiser either.
As for random environments, the players provide that ourselves. Random gate camps and the Evoke roaming fleets make this unpredictable. If one route is blocked by campers, then you need to take another path. Imagine the possibilities if a race needed you to go through delve.
Seems like you never explored that part of the game dynamics. |

You could do a it a couple of different ways....
A few cans anchored in space and just point to point, could add weapons etc for a demo derby style thing. First to finish X laps wins.
Or real cannon ball run type stuff, set a start and end point, no clone jumping, one end of eve to the other, first across the line wins. Be hard to keep track of but it could be a lot of fun.
Any way you go though you would have to set limits on ship types that could be in any event. |

If I were to set it up for races, FRAPS will definitely be needed on every racer, frigates are the only ship types (no cloaks), and it would be a hybrid race from one part to another part of Eve, through the Nullsec as well as high sec. If people are stupid enough to just head into Null through HED-GP, instead of other entry paths, and lose their ships, too bad for them as they could have gone through y.
However races in eve follow the ISRC based rules, which are much safer than my own rules, or last time I checked, I didn't know if they were still doing it. I haven't seen anyone put out fittings for racers in a long time, nor announcements for races. |

Back when warp to 0 didn't exist races used to be organised. Not really much point now unless a rule bans it, but then you have the problem of enforcing the rule. |
