I recently started running lvl 3 missions and Im just curious if there is ever a time that you might run into an officer or faction spawn in missions? Here is an even dumber question, what exactly is a "faction spawn"? I kill centum and sansha ships often so Im guessing its a certain type of these ships?

Angels extravaganza bonus room in LVL 3 missions sometimes drops crappy faction loot, its not from a ship though its from a container. I really dont remember what it was though.

What about lvl 4's same story?

never did the bonus room in a lvl 4 yet, when you do lvl 4s in a drake by the time you get there you just want it to end.

Faction loot drops in missions have been heavily nerfed. Only one I know of for sure that still can do it is Worlds Collide. Usually if there's a faction rat it'll stand out by its bounty; it'll be worth a lot more than other similar ships in the area. EG 2m-6m for a BS. They're also called something like (faction) Overseer. |

An exceptionally high bounty rat that has a decent chance of dropping faction loot like Domination Gyrostabilizers, Dread Gurista Invuls, etc. They always have a special name: True Sansha, Domination (except in drone regions, there it doesn't mean ****), Dark Blood, Dread Gurista or Shadow Serpentis

Are the Sentient Spawns have any chance what so ever of droping loot, as a new explorer I have done at least 8 Drone Plexes and 3 Escalations and recieved much less then Pirate faction spawns!
Is the anything on their faction loot table that makes it worth it, because Tech 2 Salvage is the best I got so far!

Hey,
I ran a Angel Extravaganza (Angel Cartel) level 4 the other day and the extra room dropped some nice stuff around 1m each plus I believe an ECM module worth 3m+. Nothing to run home about but still nice to FINALY get some decent mission loot...
...still waiting for some cool Pith or Gist stuff to drop

Oh yeah worth mentioning:
Those are found in belts rather then in missions... I shoot number of belts in 0sec daily and trust me - even tho is great to see faction spawn - in 80% of loot you get - tags (worth 10-20k ISK) and 1000 ammo (100-200 ISK / piece).
Sooo - quit missioning and come carebear rat in 0sec ... oh wrong emoticon i ment this one

T2 salvage is what you get. Sometimes parts for augmented drones. I could be wrong on this though, I don't live in the Drone regions, I just roam and ninja-PvE there.

I've heard that very, very rarely you get faction spawns from missions. Nothing firsthand though, I didn't spend much time mission-running.

It seriously is more lucrative and easier, go to your upgraded system, smash anoms for two or three hours, 80-160M isk, easy. No such thing as a ninja looter or salvager, your only travel time is warping between isk faucets and you don't have to haggle with tags to get your cash.
Plus escalations.
BTW, I'm certain that Pith/Gist/Corelum etc. only come from plexes. You're never going to just get a drop of them.

Yup agreed upon that. But upgraded system also means upgraded risks of being constantly contested. As I reside in calm backwater 0sec system we do not attract too much attention (nothing special there anyways lol) and still its fun to pvp a little and do a plex or two a day, or occasional WH when it pops up nearby. And every several weeks we have some neighbours which are great for occasional shirmishes, we greet roaming gangs etc.
Sov systems are kinda too time intensive to keep for occasional player like myself - yet I dont like hisec because its boring as hell...
An yes - basically belt rats give meta 6-10 stuff and plex rats give 10+ Thats a.f.a.i.k.
I.
Edit for the topic:
Only faction thing I got from missions is: 100 caldary navy scourge heavy missiles. And that was from mission called "bodyguard omething" where I shot some caracal sized (and iconed) rat.
- therefore - I guess any rat can carry something like faction missiles, prolly 1 in a 100k, so i guess 1 in a mil can carry something better. Anyways - nothing to count on when missioning .
Ok there can be a nice 10-30M isk hardwire from 4th pocket of L4 extravaganza, but thats as far as some guaranteed nice loot stretches...

i've had a dark blood rare spawn from the last wave of L4 Blockade 3 different times. Once didn;t drop anything. Another time I got a webber. And another time I got a EM hardener and a power diagnostic system (i think). this is from 6 months of missions and the Blockade doesn't get offered that often. |

Also, the faction spawn in WC is chance based triggered whenever someone enters the pocket. If you really want to go for it, you can enter the pockets again and again, and eventually it will show up.

I have seen 4 faction spawns in lowsec belts in the last few days. Two cruisers, two destroyers. Three dropped tags and ammo, one dropped tag, ammo, and a magnetic plate.
Typically the names will stand out. So if you are in Serpentis space, most rats will be "Serpentis BlahBlahBlah" and the faction guys will be something like "Shadow Serpentis BlahBlahBlah."
From purely anecdotal experience, they seem more common in Anomalies and Sites that you scan down than in missions. I am guessing that the random table that is consulted for these spawns is greater in the FFA areas than it is in the "I spawned this mission just for you" areas.

Best way to get low risk faction spawns it to learn how to chain belts in a lowsec ssytem. I ahve gotten some nice items from them including lowgrade omega implants and faction AB's. Most of the modes are the "C" type but can still net anywhere from 10-50Mil. Best place for faction drops is null or low/null complexes through exploration and running them to completion.

the overseer is usually crap, amazingly around august I got a faction drop from one of them!
I've also seen an overseer in The Blockade, I would assume it is capable of dropping faction but as I've only seen one I haven't gotten any.

I think it was a Guristas "The Blockade" level 3 mission... got an overseer cruiser sized spawn and it dropped a DG Large shield booster.

i haven't been missioning all that long, especially level 4s, but i've played the game for a while and only seen faction spawns outside of missions. low sec belts have them at a somewhat common frequency. i used to patrol a string of systems and get several a day. i've only seen one faction spawn in a high sec belt and i got a domination shield boost amp from it. :D ___________________________ not all who wander are lost. |

Chaining is the term used when killing the BS in a "good" spawn and leaving the frigates, so that the BS respawn. That's the guaranteed worst way to get a faction spawn because they only spawn in new spawns, never as part of a half-killed one. |

If you do enough missions in certain amount of time, you get faction spawns in any kill mission.
Good way to try it is to do like 150 lvl2 missions in a week and you will get multiple faction spawns. I don't know how many lvl4 missions and in wich time you have to do, but if you don't salvage and loot then you have good chance to get faction spawn in lvl4 mission.
LVL2 missions they spawn destroyer class faction rats, LVL3 is cruiser/BC and LVL4 they spawn BS class faction rats. Just one rat. It might drop anything. I noticed that lvl2 destroyer class rats dropped ammo and tag, sometimes implant. Just like they drop in 0.0.

Probably the only one I've gotten was a WC vs CONCORD (Guristas agent), which made little sense. I got e Dread Guristas Large Shield Booster. Can't remember if it was some Guristas rat or a CONCORD Overseer.
In Empire WC I rarely find an Overseer, and if I do it's not just that it's crappy loot, it's 99% empty wreck.

This is so much horse pucky that it makes one's eyes bleed. In 5 years of running missions on my main, the only faction spawns I ever saw was in WC.
