After looking through the forums I was unable to find something with the exact information I needed. My question is: What skills would be imperative to train for exploration in a T3 cruiser? I plan on using the Legion (21 days left on the que ) I know the minimum requirements for the Legion and for exploration, but I would like some help as to choose a skillset for fitting the Legion and tanking sleepers (I tried in my arbitrator but... ) Any information you could spare would be appreciated. Thanks.

For scanning skills I have: Astrometrics 3 Astrometric Rangefinding 2 Hacking 3 Archaeology 3 Salvaging 4 (not really a scanning skill but it does go with it)
For tanking I have: Hull Upgrades 3 Repair Systems 4 Mechanic 5 Jury Rigging 1
Cap skills: Energy Grid Upgrades 2 Energy Systems Operation 2 Engineering 5
Electronics:
Electronics 4 Electronic Upgrades 4 Signature Analysis 3 Cloaking 1
Gunnery 356k SP in gunnery. I can use T2 small lasers and am working towards being able to use T2 variants of medium lasers. I hope that cleared up some of the confusion I created. Still 20 days on cruiser V though, so this plan will be a little ways out. Note: I do have more skills than are listed but I did list the ones that I thought were most important.

Skills that increase agility and those specialty skills for armor resistances?

Edited by: JTDaBeast on 21/10/2010 18:14:46 Get those cap skills up and you'll definitely want Electronics to V. Fitting is everything, and you'll want as much Cap and Powergrid and possible.

You really need to work on skills before you even think of getting into a ship like that.
At current, you can't fit it or rig it properly, and you'd just get it blown up quickly. Being unable to fit and rig it properly is just a shame even trying to use a ship like that.
You need at the least:
Electronics V Engineering V Energy Systems Operation V Energy Management IV Hull Upgrades V Weapon Upgrades V Advanced Weapon Upgrades IV Armor and appropriate weapon Rigging III Signature Analysis V Targeting IV Controlled Bursts V Motion Prediction V Surgical Strive IV Rapid Firing V Trajectory Analysis III Sharpshooter IV T2 Medium Laser Turret skill III All Subsystem skills to at least IV.
Don't forget your Navigation skills. Also very important to flying a T3. Navigation, Fuel Conservation, Evasive Maneuvering, Acceleration Control, Afterburner.
That's my opinion, anyway. Seems a waste to have sub-sub-par pilots flying around in them.
Of course, do whatever you'd like, ultimately it's your ISK at risk.

Thank you for the very in-depth answer!!! I will train those skills so I can fly that ship tmost effectively. An Entity that floats free will release mankind... |

On top of Minerva's recommendations...
[For Tanking]
<Damage Type> Armor Compensation IV if you want to use EANMs / Corpum Passive Hardeners. Defensive Subsystem V. (7% increase in tank over subsystem IV, sweet for a rank I skill.) Engineering Subsystem V. (Again, a huge increase for a platry of 4 days of invenstment.) Armor Rigging IV for T2 Armor Rigs. Repair Systems V to maximize tanking abilities.
[For More Firepower]
Offensive Subsystem V. Most important for (almost) any T3 cruiser. Cybernetics IV for 'Lancer' G2-Gamma(5% bonus to medium laser turrets). Trajectory Analysis IV for T2 tracking computers. Sharpshooter V comes before Controlled Bursts V, especially if you want to use T2 Large Beams in the future. Medium Pulse Laser Spec IV.
[For Easier Scanning]
Cloaking IV for Covert Ops Cloaks. Astrometric Rangefinding IV. Astrometric Pinpointing IV. Astrometric Acquisition III.
That will be enough for flying a near-optimal Legion.
