I've lost 3 battleships in the last 2 weeks in missions I have routinely run. First off let me say I am not upset, I know this is a possibility. I Just find this odd that this is happening. Maybe I am doing something completely wrong.
I am not sure my exact fit put I do have an idea of it, and it has earned me over 500mill isk. . until last few days. I am running level 4's in a maelstorm with the metta 4 weaps, also the resists on my shields are in the 80% range to the particular types of damage that are mentioned in eve survival.
what is happening is this, I runt he mish just like i have been before when i enter the second room on all of these that this has happened on (its always the second room) my shields drop like a rock, with in 30 seconds from starting the conflict, my shields are stripped away and in trying to warp out I am scrammed and cannot.
this has happened on 3 different regular level 4's and one storyline. I've been scrammed before by rats, but what I am finding is this is always repeating in the second room and no matter what the resists are (IE kin, therm, em, exp) even when set properly, yes I have done these missions countless times, the shields are toast in about 30-45 seconds.
so is this something new or is this a glitch?

You became careless, you are not paying attention to the mission.
This happens to me about once a year. I loose a battleship or two, say to myself: enough is enough, and get the game face on.

My only suggestion is check your logs... Maybe there is a sentry gun or something firing an unexpected damage type that you have no tank for? Or at least it should show you want is melting your shields.

Be honest, you're with friends here :) Did you shoot the spies? Did you deploy drones who shot the spies?

being completely honest didn't shoot the spies. .. I've done that before and I know what happens, I only had the first 2 groups as aggro like normal, the other one the same thing happened where the small amount of ships ripped though the shielding like it was a frigate
I know when i mess up and this is not the same it's only recently here that's why I brought it up

Second room in WC is rough. I just bring lots of extra drones and keep launching them to kill scramming frigates. It is probably the only mission where I loose drones consistently.
My suggestions: -Bring extra scout drones -Gear your fit for extra defense -Concentrate on killing scramming frigates -Fit assault missile launchers -Turn shield booster on right away (I assume you are taking advantage of Mael's bonus)
I don't fly Mael. I fly Raven, I can tell you want I do, I put all my firepower into destroying scramming frigates, I keep launching scout drones even though they get killed and I keep firing cruise missiles at them, every bit of offense helps. Once scramming frigates are dead, I know I can warp out any time I want and come back repaired and resupplied, that takes a lot of pressure off.

I've done countless wc mish's so I know what is in store for me and i know how to do it in my sleep. until about 2 weeks ago this has happened as well as in on other mish, same exact thing. I am not looking for advice on the mish I know how to do it.
I am seeing if this is a bug, something I missed or is there something that has changed. The same fit worked in one before the losses just gone from losing ships to being careless to being ****d.

Ignore the frigs, the damage they do is nothing. Shoot the sentry guns, then go through the groups 1 by 1 in order that eve survival states. Once you get to the final group everything will be agroed, then release your drones. If you dont pull full agro, that 2nd room is easy if you have a fairly decent tank and do it in the correct order.

I think what the people are missing here is that I warp in with full resists and its over in about 50 sec as if the shields are not running along with the booster.
not just WC but 3 other mish's this has happened in the exact same manner.

2 other people have noticed this as well and it is a recent thing. I'm just here seeing if it was a fluke or if this is something that has changed in the way npc's react etc. . .

Considering the fact that CCP is now doing a 4th optional patch, this sounds like a very bad BUG.
I don't think sending a petition will help replace the ship or ships lost but the situation/issue still needs to be reported.

Possible reasons:
1) sometime when you use a acceleration gate your exit point is slightly different (as you didn't entered the gate in the central point). You being in the wrong position could aggro the whole room against you.
2) some bug deactivating your hardeners or your shield expanders (like it sometime happens when you leave a station after boarding a ship and the extra shields given by your skills and expanders are red).
You can try to minimize the risk starting a shield boosting cycle wile in warp. If it the same kind of shield bug you get when leaving a station a single shield booster cycle should get your shields to full hp.
For maximum security I suggest you use the absolute value (i.e. HP) shield readout and not the 100% readout.
That way, if there is a sudden drop in your maximum shield HP as a consequence of some bug you would be immediately informed.
Checking the damage notifications after battle can be useful too. That way you should see if the hardeners are working or not.

Yesterday, I saw my shields dropping much quicker than normal in one mission, and it was because my hardeners were inactive. Although I've deeply ingrained a habit of always activating hardeners after every jump or undock (regardless of where I am, or what ship I'm in), I was quite confident that the issue was user error. Sometimes an activation doesn't take if I do it too quick after choosing warp. Maybe that has become more touchy.
To the point, your issue really sounds like inactive hardeners. It's perfectly reasonable that you wouldn't even notice in the first pocket of many missions. I never take damage in the first room of WC.

on the aggro, like I said the same exact thing has happened in 4 different missions so it's not just wc that was just he last one.
second I assure you it was not over aggro, unless everything didn't have the lock on
third I assure you that the hardeners were activated.
fourth I've messed up before and I can say with 100% certainty that this was not the same this was right as you land you get effed in the ass
I'm only asking because I am not sure if this is a bug or not as it only started with in the last 2 weeks. I'm not concerned with getting a ship back, I would be concerned with making a bug get fixed. I'm guessing I'm alone in this weirdness.

Have you checked if it's the ship-bonuses-not-applying-bug? I've had that few times and because of that I've almost lost my ship.

FWIW, I lost two drakes and a Raven less than a month ago, worse still I had to warp out of a level 3 mission. You mentioned feeling alone -- well, I was there.
Given my experience, I contacted a GM and sent my DxDiag file as requested -- new gaming computer with 64-bit Win 7, incidentally, if you happen to be running such. Otherwise, the only advice I received was to ensure that anisotropic filtering was not turned on, which it wasn't.
Anyway, at the time there were serious lag issues (far worse than usual) but I can also say there was "something different" (queue Twilight Zone Music) about the missions.
I'm not a LV 4 pro but until that time could hold my own, with a tank strong enough for soloing C2 wormholes -- warping out on occasion -- in comparison.
Otherwise, the mission aggro was insane, and I was quickly overwhelmed by ewar/scram/web/aggro in all cases.
I can't rule out some mistakes on my end, however, including with drones, just from talking to other mission runners. Yet, I'm guessing I made the same mistakes before without fatal consequences.
Lastly, I took a couple week break from PVE and began learning PVP (great stuff) where losing ships back-to-back at least made sense.
Funny/sad thing is that I lost my PVE nerve for awhile but did get it back. I finally did World's Collide (again) this last week and all was well.
Though I've provided little in hard data to go on, maybe similarities can be found and/or it will encourage others to speak up if they are suddenly struggling with missions.
P.S. Yes, 30-45 secs tops --86K damage to a drake

There's a rare bug/glitch, your shields/armor may show at full resist (80% or whatever) but actual resist probably defaulted to base value. So, for example, if your shield tanking against Sansha/Blood, it'll drop like a rock before you realized whats happening.
Check your logs for the damage done by the NPCs and from there you can roughly extrapolate your ship's resist based on normal encounter with the (specific) NPC ship. I personally encountered this only once that I could remember a year back, almost lost my ship (phew). Made quite a wtf moment there for a moment until I checked the logs.
Bug report it if you can replicate it, othwerwise, just keep a mental note of it. |

I lost a drake a few weeks ago in a level 4 doing this. I play on my laptop and was watching TV. That cost me 80M in isk.

P.S. Yes, 30-45 secs tops --86K damage to a drake Edit: Another loss showed 30K something damage, so perhaps the shield hardener problem applies there. The Raven kill HP stats I'm thinking were on the low end too but my shield was on, I remember that one distinctly and how yet the armor seemed to hold up better.
this is kinda what i mean. it's different and yes I admit when I screw up but it was full on wow and no time to do much at all. what is weird is it's not just wc I had it happen in 3 other mish's and one story line. weird as hell. I didn't know if i lagged where my ship sat there or something but it happened pretty fast after getting there from the accel gate.
I read hte logs it just has a **** load of damage in it and that's it what am I looking for?

Cute. I lost about 1B isk and I don't watch TV -- and zomguzcrazeBC fits are my prerogative. (Note to drooling gankers: I'm back to vanilla T2.)
That said, I'm not implying that makes my loss any more significant, other than isk-wise, but rather in retrospect I wish I had petitioned the matter further to make CCP aware of it. The aforementioned petition didn't include these details.
Originally, I just assumed the first ship loss was pilot error --for no particular reason--, the second one followed my choice to run a LV 4 mission despite lag issues which appeared improved, and then the last one, the Raven, could reasonably be argued that it lacked tank and gank, given my skill focus.
Henceforth, I am much more inclined to make highly suspect and repeated financial losses such as this known to CCP, understanding full well the potential for abuse and difficulty in filtering through "bug" vs. pilot error. The alternative, however, for subscribers to silently eat the costs, seems more unreasonable, be it $5 or $50.

P.S. No, it wasn't just World's Collide for me either Tyranthrax -- in fact I think (partial mental block) I ultimately made it through that one after going through about 25 T2 drones. Again, just recently WC was run for me without incident. I want to say it was Vengeance and something close in name or such I associate with Smuggler's Interception, but that wasn't the one. It wasn't WC/AE or Enemies Abound caliber to my knowledge.
Another thought I had was that these events all occurred in the same system or thereabouts. I jump around a bit so that may be significant.

Good advice for staying alive, but if I were that bored I'd just turn aggro on them and/or kill them with my PVP alt on my terms -- but since I rarely salvage in Empire much anymore it's a non-issue.
