Didn't rapid firing give a 5% per lvl??
It says 4% per lvl now for a new total of 20% at lvl5. I want my 5% back
If im wrong and it's always been this way, ignore this
Also, if this is because of lag or something (same reason the ceptor rof bonus's are being converted over to dmg) can't we get an increase to surgical strike to compensate for this change? ________________________________________________________

I'm pretty sure it was 5%.
Scanned Patch Notes and can't see any mention of this though.

Well, if the interceptor changes are anything to go by they are looking to decrease ROF on turrets and increase damage, so that wouldn't surprise me.

Well, they've reduces the ROF but i don't see an increase in damage via surgical strike.
It's funny cause tomb has said he wanted to do something with surgical strike quite a long time ago...

Once upon a time... the RoF bonus on both Rapind Firing and Gunnery was 5%.
IIRC this was actually one of the first nerfs (reducing the bonuses). Since ppl were then flying around in mallers with 650 (or was it 720?) artilleries and 6dmg mods, doing so much dmg/sec it would make a demios feel ashamed. CCP, beeing CCP, did what they alwyas do, they "balanced" things...
That is the way I remember it anyway.

I seem to remember Gunnery being a 5% Damage bonus originally. I could be wrong, but I swear it was at one point. Anyone else think so too? Cause its not anymore

I think it's possible CCP wants to reduce ROF across the board. This has been mentioned as one of the contributing factors to lag in large engagements.
If weapons fired less often overall, there would be less lag.
I have no idea if they are actually implementing this. =)

Talk about pulling a fast one
Any devs around
Please transfer a damage increase to surgical strike that was lost with 1% less rof (it's higher then just 1%).
I don't know about anyone else, but i don't like having my DPS reduced for no good reason. ________________________________________________________

Its been 4% for months. I think it was changed very early on in Castor - January/Febuary.

tomb just made a recent post about interceptors, where they are actually implementing a ROF reduction with the idea of lowering lag...

And there was me thinking that all the players at large engagements caused the lag =/
Figured ccp was gonna fix it by making so many silly chnages that we get bored and go play minefield or some such, thus fixing the lag

As far as the surgical strike thing goes i think it's fine but there is nothing "surgical" about it.
kind of like the "sharpshooter skill" there is nothing sharp about it and does nothing for accuracy which most would think would come with that skill.
neither of them do much for accuracy which both skills kind of imply.
I would like to see a 2% tracking bonus added to sharpshooter skill per lvl to make that do what it should. I would also like to see them add a 2% better chance to have a wrecking shot per each lvl surgical strike. After all surgical strike says advanced ship knowledge for cruicial componentry.......give better chances for wreckers not just damage bonus.
those two bonuses would go a long way in making those two skills work more like implied. These are the only two skills I got issues with as far as their in game affect and their description. been saying this for over a year.

Can't remember it ever being 5%
It's 4% in the excel sheet i use for damage calculations, and i made that one way before the Castor patch (over a year or so o.O;

Flammius is CORRECT.
@ Launch, BOTH rapid fireing and gunnery gave 5% per lvl to ROF. However, they were pretty soon nerfed to 4% and 2%.

yeah its been 4% ever since i started playing in may.
And as for it reducing lag, quite simple really, higher ROF = more calcs the server has to do. Higher dmg means the same number of calculations, just u do more dmg, obviously. Makes sense to me
Rapid firing skill has not been stealth nerfed
