Edited by: SabotNoob on 21/10/2010 22:37:00 Question on tracking speed and the usefulness of the Tracking Computer II (with tracking speed script). Is it worth having this module for Level 4's if I plan on mostly using turrets on BS's that are far away (50KM more or less)? What about small targets that are just as far? Are turrets alone still effective with them at a distance?
I was having issues with being cap stable and was thinking about dropping this module. I have T2 drones to deal with frigates and I also have Motion Prediction to Level 5.
Only concern would be when BS's start orbiting at 2 or 3 KM's. Could large turrets still track them fairly well without a TCII?
I've never really undocked without a TCII lately and wanted some input before actually trying it out tonight.
Thanks!
EDIT: Plan to use either an Abaddon or Apocalypse with beams. ____________________

No... You would probably miss most shots fired. Even with a TC+TS script this is not effective. But would help in my experience with Rails.
But... Just try it for yourself? But if you don't have an Afterburner, you really need some tracking aid on battleships imo.

I mostly use tracking comps for optimal range. if I know stuff will be spawning up close I usually switch to tracking speed. between double tapping in space to lower transversial and the tracking comp I seem to hit very well.
also on amaar ships you don't need to be 100% cap stable, brief pauses in firing give the cap some time to catch up. of course it is better to have more than less cap, if you frequently cap out that's no good.
the abaddon fit I ran never had a Tracking comp and it seemed to work fine, tracking comp would have made it better though.

I've shot angel rats orbiting at 7-8000 with 1400's. It was slow but still viable. Of course, a TC helps, but is not necessary.

If you can dualbox with an Oneiros, the tracking boost it provides can be absolutely insane. This is, of course, just about all the ship is good for other than a being substandard Guardian.
