According to http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=73098 there's going to be quite a change to Mining Barges.
Specifically the Retriever will get a 27500 cargo hold. Currently I get about 3k cargo space on mine. What I do is have a 2nd account using a badger mark 2 to haul my ore away while leaving my Retriever to continuously mine. Is this setup pretty common? With the new changes it would render hauling with a 2nd account obsolete.
It seems to me to then to use 2 retrievers w/ 27.5k cargo each would give me what, 4 times the amount of ore instead of 1 Retriever/Hauler setup as it stands now?
The only reasoning I can see to giving mining barges such large cargo holds is to reward those players that do not use bots over the current setup. ie. makes the gap between those that bot and those that do not closer together. Is that the reasoning behind it?
Would such a move drop mineral prices considerably and effect the overall market economy? |

It would definately make sense that the new mining barges would make mining 'easier' and thus allow for a greater influx of minerals (at least low end) on to the market.
What I'm interested in though is the massive increase in minerals required to make the new barges. Some of the mineral requirements of the Inferno 1.2 BPO's will be increased 5000%. This would mean that overall the barges themselves would consume a fair amount more minerals and (at least at the start) cost a lot more.
Will the increase in mineral requirements counter the extra minerals being mined and prevent the low ends bottoming out? |

To the OP: 2 retrievers would give you more output, yes.
As to minerals bottoming out, the fact mining is boring will keep a lot of people from mining. Mining on its own still won't cover the loss from drone poo and meta0 loot, so prices might stabilize a bit, but i don't see them crashing.

Someone from SCC channel said he had just put 5400 of one of the kind of barges into the oven. Cant remember which type he was making now. Guess he is thinking the same thing and is planning on making a killing. Im sure he said they only cost him 2.5mill isk to make could be wrong there. |

2.5 million would be a procurer.
He'll only make his ISK back by selling them. They're going to use more minerals to make, but that'll all be extra materials, which don't show up when you refine it. So are you guys saying that after the patch the procurer is going to increase in value because it will start to cost more to produce?
I noticed a few weekends back someone bought out the market on all the T1 mining barges and it nearly doubled the jita price for a few days. |

It'll cost 20M instead of 2M to produce a procurer after the patch, I'll let you decide if that means it will increase in value.

All the Mining Barges and Exhumers have sky-rocketted in price lately. Good luck finding a Procurer for sale for less than 10 million ISK or a Mackinaw for less than 240 mill.

Yep I looked into Mackinaws as soon as I read the patch notes. I just came back after a lengthy break, and Mackinaws are at 240M + already. Procurers are at 20M. |

Yeah 37-60M profit per Mack I sold...
... but what most did not notice while tunnel focusing on ships were the 30-50M markup BPCs, those were lovely to sell and so much quicker and cheaper to make Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

There were contracts for 1 run Procurer BPCs available last night at 20 million ISK each. Don't know why anyone would buy these as you can still buy the ships themselves for about 11 million.
I bought and built some 10 run Procurer BPCs for 40 milion each. I figure the 4 mill per ship is still less than the cost increase in minerals after the patch.

You got in way too late then. Mine were selling for 280m yesterday. Considering I got in at 170m a unit I've not done too bad. |

I focused on Macks, the Retriever BPC copies were flying at 20M a piece 1 week before the final push. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

No, I got out too early, but I am a very conservative trader and don't mind to sell a bit before the big peak if that makes me comfortable. IE back then, I sold Nitro Isotopes at below 1200 and they peaked at 1300. The 800 isk PU I made on each piece was plenty enough to satiate me. I am not greedy

I'm wondering what will be the price for Procurers today after the patch and within the week. I suppose it'll be over 20Mil per Procurer, someone who bought a lot for evem 10-12M still will make a profit of 8M per ship. |

I bought up 150 procs and 80 retrievers myself, at 15mil and 22mil respectively, built 290 retrievers. Only had the brains to do it last night, wish I could have gotten 1k retrievers built. Oh well, my real money will come from the isk jump on the bpos. |
