I know this is a controversal thing but I still hope it will not go down in flames.
When I checked the market, a number of items showed up as being in the market but were unavailable, all of them different coloured versions of the already available NEX clothes. Since the items are already part of the client but not yet released, is rollout of further NEX-Items on hold until the next phase of Incarna will be completed? |

This is a marketing technique, where they slowly release items to allow individuals to grow tired of an item, and then release a new one that sets the newest fad/ style. This allows minimal work for maximum profit, it's been done in many other games. The same thing is done for fashion in the real world. |

Sounds like something called 'planned obsolescence'.
planned obsolescenceGÇé noun a method of stimulating consumer demand by designing products that wear out or become outmoded after limited use. Also called built-in obsolescence.
If you're into consumer electronics and have a habit of trying to keep track on any updates of such products all the time, then you would know this term is very well applied in that market. Many companies (including Apple, Google & Microsoft) have been accused of this in the past.
If applied to something like the fashion world (whether in real life or in an online game like Eve), obsolescence is something that is created by the consumer (not the designer). Fashion is always trendy and consumers will always strive to wear that rare clothing item that sets them apart from everyone else until everyone else starts wearing the same thing. At that point the consumer will look for something else. Fashion designers have to constantly create new unique and trendy clothes to keep up with the demand and stay ahead in the market. This is because their revenue will grind to a halt if everyone owned the same fashion design (there will be no need to wear it for the sake of looking different). |

The problem is that you may not know something you like better is going to come out someday and at which price. Stupid example: i did not know until i saw it on the market a white sterling shirt would ever be released and i still do not know at which price.
Now while this does not apply to me what could have happened is that i bought the black stirling dress thinking "this one is the most awesome" and the white got released and i would be like "damn that one looks even better" and end up buying both. |

The whole NEX store needs a headshot. What would have been additional sandbox features like player crafted clothing, etc with Ambulation, turned into featureless bs with Incarna.
Why do I get the feeling that another reason WiS content has been slowed right up is because a lot of the station content was based around Aurum. Which would seem in line with the views of the CCP'ers involved in the NEX store. Nex (Cash Shop)-á/ Aurum - removing sand from the sandbox since Incarna. Currently the only use for aurum is to buy virtual items in the in-game store, but Cockerill expects to expand its uses in the future. |
