Well it happened to me. One of my accounts was haked. 95% of the things I worked for and aquired the 16 months I've played is gone. The GM's were helpful in trying to at least recover some of the isk, but the ships and other items were unrecoverable. I was hacked by someone working for an ISK seller. I know this because the hacker/seller completed an isk buy order using my account. I convo'd the player who received isk from my account to find out how he was involved. He states he ordered isk from a certain website and it was delivered by my account. So, by supporting isk sellers players are also supporting hackers. I receieved the isk back from the buyer (through a GM)and, according to him, he is out $85. USD.
I have never given out my account information or full API to anyone. I have only given my limited API to Evemon and my corp. I do not know how the hacker got my user id and password, but he did. The one mistake I did make was not changing my password frequently or even recently.
I offer this up as a warning to my fellow players. I hope it does not happen to you. I would like to thank the GM who has assisted me during this event. |

How much isk did $85 allegedly get this player?
(curious to know why someone would risk getting banned when GTC are available and last I checked the spam RMT prices were over GTC)
How long was your password?
How 'strong' would you say your password was, any full words, mixed numbers, upper/lower case?

option 1 buy isk, get isk removed have neg blance even get baned
option 2 pay for a gtc convert to plex sell make isk help someone keep playing the game dont get neg blance don't get baned
i'll take option 2, how lazy do you have to be to take option 1.

Or look if you logged onto Eve (ingame or forums) from a "public" computer (just using the infected computer of a lousy friend is enough)
Or if you have similar login & password on some eve related website/gaming forum.
Or if your email account has been hacked
