Make a mistake? I'm used to trading from Jita to Rens or dod, amarr. Transporting goods for a week or to rinse and repeating. You could make at least 100k on almost any item. I recently found myself with Caldari Navy standing very high.. so I figured. I would be foolish not to use them. So I went out of the Forge and instead of doing Jita ~~ another trade hub. I went Jita - another caldari region.
So I'm now actively trading in 3 systems in this other region which I thought would make up for the fact that they are 'suburban' markets. But the rate at which I'm needing to update orders and the turnover of items compared to my trade in the major hubs is pitiful.
Is my feeling that I'm losing potential profit just due to that fact that I am used to more fast paced 1 isking? Or have I indeed neutered my profits in exchange for market calmness which I wasn't even looking for?
What should I do. Admittedly I've only been at it for a day.

You probably mean "another trade hub" in some other Caldari region, because there can only be one solar system named "Jita". And yes, going away from Jita into another Caldari region will feel like a massive downgrade, since Jita "sucks in" a noticeable portion of the trades from most Caldari regions and even some neighboring non-Caldari regions... Jita44 handles on average over HALF of the entire EVE universe trade ISK-wise (granted, it's pretty heavily biased in favor of moongoo and reactions, but still very high percentage of "regular" items too), almost one order of magnitude more than whatever the next largest trade hub (arguably, that being Amarr) does. _

Agreed. Trading reliably 5-10 items in amarr, found about 100 of these in Jita, can't handle that much with my ISK though :) Don't get me wrong, amarr is still a nice profit run, even very nice, but you'll have to find the items that work, the difference is there's a lot more of these in Jita, if you have enough ISK to invest to cover them all.

What i personally found was the jita is the place to dump your componenets/moon goo styled items, and ships.
however Amarr worked for me very well in terms of Mods, I could probably have gotten rid of them quicker in jita, but at times about 10% less money, but had to babysit orders regularly.
Personally im a fan of amarr, it has a nice balance between regular sales and little babysitting, whereas jita is a goto loo and you've been undercut market.
But thats just me ;).

Yes, prices are quite good and stuff sells without babysitting, but when you're trying to make active profit, one item only won't be very rewarding.

What is this I don't even...
This thread is now about whether I should put a discussion thread for my loan business in MD (to avoid breaking rules about bumps in sell orders, where the actual service thread is).
Thoughts?

Yes you should make a new thread. I have a very important comment about it.

Is your important comment to threadjack my thread to be about this?

I apologize, though - couldn't resist getting in on a little troll action.
In answer to your OP though - I think that volume is just such a killer with trading that it's a lot easier to deal with lower margins than it is to deal with lower volume; I personally am considering moving back to Jita from Dodixie for station trading, despite having significantly higher cost of business in Jita (due to faction standings) - because the lower margins are outweighed by the sheer numbers you can trade.
