You make it sound like its a lot of isk. I assure you, its not. Heres some real advice, if your *actually* new (as opposed to some older player who fails hard enough to troll MD over some smallish amount of isk), I'd recommend looking at the character bazaar for something with more sp than what you have now. Granted you wont get much for only 2 bil, but you'll be better off than when you just started.
Alternatively if thats not your thing, perhaps getting some +5 implants, or just blow it all on pvp ships and get good at that. If you really want to get into the market, then youll need to do your own research, you could also have a look at: http://evemarket.logicaldreams.net/

I have a list of activities that can be done for very small amounts of effort and no ingame skills required.
These activities show constant growth ad profits, but the more people fins out, the quicker the opportunity expires so I license people to be able to do it.
My licenses only cost 600mil, and you can easily make that back in a week.

Trading faction stuff, in large amounts, between various regions is a good way to get started, as long as you stay in high sec, you will be fine.

with 2 billion isk, i'd go look around low sec to find any unocupied moons with a decent material (rare but can happen) then set up a killer pos network doing complex reactions for a nice nearly passive income. dont really need much skill to do this either just anchoring 2 and an industrial ship, though it will tkae hours to set up initaly. give your money to me and i'll do it for you

If you're looking for return without effort, I'd offer you 3%/month on it.
My current income sources can expand far beyond another 2b in investment before I even have to look for more things :)
