Naru is def not Gal its way more Amarr, the Eve guys are smoking Crack, Lol elegant shape on a Gal boat lols.
Also why 2 Minni Boats?
They should have picked 4 from the beginning each 1 races ship.
Im not sure how it will be fair to add these in game, Maybe they are just gonna steal the other designs anyways

Should be easy for them to implement. I mean, all they have to do is reskin a myrm and turn it upside down.

Technically, I think only the Tornado is supposed to end up in game. Would be cool if the pulled inspiration from the other designs for whatever the other race's versions would be. The designer of the Tornado left some interesting plans for one ship for each race, and I agree, the whine threadnaughts would be enormous if only Minnie got a new ship.

Note that only the design was supposed to end up in EVE....stat/ship bonus proposals mean exactly as much as my wish for CCP to give me insider market related info.
ie. Absolutely Zilch.

I think the problem with most of the entries, as with most of the in game deigns already, is that you can tell they were designed by artists and not engineers. So many of the designs are terribly flamboyant with almost no discernible purpose to any of the "extremities". Anyone with more than high school physics will tell you that having large amounts of mass far away from the center of gravity as well as asymmetric designs is bad for several reasons. This includes slow/unpredictable maneuvering and unexpected forces at places where different sections meet. I know its a game but still some of the worst offenders aren't even believable designs (Blackbird, Moa, Raven, Naglfar, Osprey, Caracal etc.).
Second place is very nicely done.

Naru-Kami is too wide and therefore ugly.
Tsunami is rusty fly with wings ripped off, where are wings, I ask you?? Where are matari semitransparent wings???
I'm disappointed.

So does the winner also get one of their ships for free? It would seem only fair. I think it would be a major let down to design your dream ship, win the competition, have said ship added to the game then not be able to actually own it because it is so rare.

I see the Tornado as a cruiser, then possibly using the hull to replace the Heavy Assault Ship Muninn. If they decide on a new ship class, maybe a light covops cruiser?
Seems to open up a can of worms, as then each race will need one, and DeviantArt can have even more contests loaded with controversy.

Still waiting for this statement to be true when they announced the new skin for the scorpion. I had assumed they were going to do one faction or perhaps frigs->cruisers->BS/BC-caps per expansion and get it done within 1-1.5 years from Tyrannis. Since then we haven't heard a word about ships and get full body avatars instead, we have gotten the Primea, Reskinned Noctis, and a player submitted concept which will probably not be used for at least another six months at best before they can get around to it and everyone will have forgotten about it. Maybe we will get another gift during christmas like the Zephyr, but doubtful it will be a ship this year as CCP seems to have to much on its plate to do right now.

It's always easier to criticise someone else's work than to come up with something of your own.
So until you link your own entry for us to compare and judge I don't really have anything to put your opinions in reference to.

Naru-Kami looks caldari (in a good sense) to me and Tornado shape isn't very original but there HAS to be at least one boomerang ship in EVE amirite lol, the 3rd model looks very raw to me not much to say |

Tornado is awesome. Again it draws heavily from Myrm, but it has it's own little twist that I think allows it to be unique enough.
Naru-Kami is entirely a hybrid ship. It's not full Gallente, not leaning Amarr, but could easily be fit into either a Khanid, or Guristas ship IMO (sharing technology base from Caldari, but having Gallente/Amarr curves)

What a cop-out. So no one who can't create art has any authority to judge a work's value? If that's true then you should not even reference your own opinions unless you link YOUR own entry.

Many of the entries are works of great artistic skill but as practical ship designs I think they fall short because they have no functional purpose to their design. This comparison is somewhat drastic but they seem to me the equivalent of converting something like the statue of liberty into an automobile. No doubt it would still retain its beauty but so many of its features would be simply counter productive for its use as an automobile.
