So I have a Vindi fully fitted and now I wanna test it out. I have a second account and I am wondering what would be the best most beneficial support ship for the Vindi in 1 v 1 or similar encounters. I'm not talking about for anything other than this at the moment. No fleet battles or anything.
My Vindi loadout is as below.

Considering the price of that thing, the most fitting support for it would be a triage carrier.

1 v 1 or similar I said. I don't want to take it into a battle I know I can't win. Do I take along something to transfer armour or cap or a jammer?

2x Guardians, 1x Falcon and Oneiros, 1x Legion, 1x Oneiros and 1x Falcon, etc etc etc. Either way, you want more than 1. Also Fed Navy Webs are better, just sayin'. And use a deadspace MWD along with an Officer Cap Booster, Fed Navy 1600's and A-Type EANM's. That fit just reeks of eBay. Yeah I am a pirate. What are you gonna do about it? Yeah, I do. Either your character, your ISK or a combination of the two. You are investing over a bil in rigs, 6 bil in mag stabs alone, untold billions in implants and then you use a T2 plate, C-Type EANMs, Faction Cap Booster, Faction MWD and Domi webs(Could be argued on this point). Plus your idea of a 1v1 is having a support ship help you if things don't go your way. As stated, you and your post reek of eBay. Yeah I am a pirate. What are you gonna do about it? In all fairness to the OP look at some vids of Vindicators fighting, they are often double rep, double cap injecting boats fitted with officer electron blasters (a lot better tracking and less of a PG issue). Also make sure you use Navy cap boosters. You are unlikely to get 1v1's especially as you don't seem to be holding to the 1v1 rule either.
Also to all those that think this could be an Ebay thing.....the guy could be a trader deciding that its time for some 'real' PvP, had the same thing happen in the corp.

Federation navy web, not webs. Eccm. Another Plate (if it will fit, i didnt check). A-type EANMs. Officer Cap Booster. Deadspace MWD. Berserker IIs (Explosive Damage). Slave Set + DMG implants.
Summed up what others said and added a few things. Have no clue why you would go with so little tank, i mean the longer you stay alive the more damage you do as well. As for the support ship you were looking for, i would go with a falcon and guardian, then ofcourse a CS/t3 giving out bonuses.
Hope you actually use this thing and just dont let it sit. Also where will you be pvping?

So a 2 year 8 month old player can't amas enough isk over that time to purchase the above fittings etc? I have 3 characters on the one account, my main and 2 science industry alts. I buy blueprints and build stuff. I make wise decisions relating to minerals etc. I mine a lot. I have never been involved in pvp therefore I have kept out of harms way for the most part, allowing me to look ahead and make plans for the future. Just because you see a pricey fit, don't assume it's been gotten by ill means. A lot of people in this game put in the hard yards, and it's idiots like yourself that see something they envy and immediately try and bring that person down. I think I can comment for a lot of hard working players out there when I say FAR-Q buddy. If you have nothing constructive to add, then go play on the road with a blindfold on.

...You just proved how big of an idiot you really are. No, a 2 year and 8 month old player generally knows how to actually, you know, FIT ships properly. You clearly don't. You are putting all of that ISK into a ship and are using A.) The wrong webs, B.) The wrong MWD, C.) The wrong cap booster, D.) The wrong EANM's and E.) LOL T2 plate. I don't assume the ISK/character for a fit is bought on eBay simply because its pricey, however I do when the person clearly has had the opportunity to amass such wealth and been in-game long enough to read up on fits AND learn to fit ships. Please, go back to eBay. Maybe you can buy a brain on there also.

That pretty much sums it up perfectly. I got the fit for the most part from battleclinic, got a few pointers from watching some good vindi vids like Way of the warrior by gods coldblood and decided I wanted to own one of these ships and pimp it out as much as I could afford. I was in a non pvp corp called Angelic Industries for the most part of my Eve career then left because they kept getting wardecced and it was interrupting my plans too much so I left and joined an npc. As far as the whole ebay ****e goes, I'm not sure you can even buy virtual goods from there anymore.
Thanks for those that have provided good honest feedback. I appreciate it.

If you don't want 1vs1 (or any fight) you might lose, then your fitting and support ships don't really make a difference. There is always a chance you can lose.
Support ships are not helpful if you go out an PvP in a ship like that with little PvP experience. It is not about modules and ships, it is about knowing game mechanics, analysing possible threat and predicting other players. Neutral bumpers, suicide gankers, neutral RR's etc. will likely be your biggest high-sec problem. In low-sec, expect a bunch of SC's and support to be dropped on you if they can.
Other than that, get a couple of out-of-corp Guardians and don't ever move away from a station if you undock.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but if you have to ask on the forums you have no business flying something that expensive. It's your ship to lose but remember this isn't PVE, more expensive isn't better, it just hurts more when you lose it. Not if, when. Only fly what you can afford to lose. Maybe you can afford to lose that thing, I could be wrong.
Either that or you're just trying to show off your pimped out ship on the forums.
Either way you just painted a massive bulls eye on your bum.

1) cheapen your fit up a bit. the hull cost isnt worth that much isk in mods.i'll put my fit at the bottom of my post. 2) people who active tank the vindi are doing it wrong. if you want to 1v1 people then do the 1v1 and warp in a remote repping ship after the battles over to repair up for the next one.
my fit: Vindicator: ****Train
[LOWS] 2x Fed Navy 1600mm plates(your ship moves faster due to less added mass) 2x Imperial Navy EANM 2x Fed Navy Mag Stab(can also switch one out for an active explosive hardener if you feel the need to fill the hole) 1x DC II
[MIDS] B or C-Type 100MN MWD True Sansha Warp Scram Officer Cap Booster 2x Fed Navy stasis webs(replace 1 with ECCM if you run into jammers frequently)
[HIGHS] 8x Neutron Blaster II
[RIGS] 2x Trimark I(yes 1's. why in gods name would you spend 2-3 times price of hull for such a small hp boost?)
Ogre IIx5
i use LG slaves but as you seem to have metric tons of ISK go for the HG's
My alt follows me in an unprobable booster T3 with rr.
So far every time i take it out i get 1 or 2 kills if i'm lucky but everything else runs away. Life is Pain.....Get over it!!!! |

That's actually a pretty good idea. It would be a significant increase in EHP.
Someone also said something about putting T1 rigs and rationalizing the fit. That makes complete sense. I have a feeling the OP just EFTed or copied someone's fantasy fit without ever checking the prices.
The thing about using navy cap charges is a good idea as well.

I did get the fitting from the highest ranked fit for a Vindi on Battleclinic, and then I changed it for what I thought were the best modules you could get. The result is what I have posted in the initial post. I plan on upgrading what I have changed in the initial post when the funds become available.

Honestly you need seem like you're keen on PVPing and you don't have a lot of experience doing it. When you undock a ship for PVP it will die. It's just a matter of when. Get familiar with similar ships and then fly the vindi.
Fly the mega. Lose a few. Learn from your mistakes. You should probably start with something smaller as well. Try the Brutix, Thorax, Deimos. They're all good blaster boats and you will learn some important lessons and you will have a lot of fun.

Honestly, sell the vindi and get a goddamn mothership. Its only an additional 6b if the prices for what I'm seeing here are added up correctly, so you get that, and then you get the same recommendation for a support ship.
Frankly, this is ******ed to use in PVP. You're just ****ing isk away. Unless you have a triage carrier ready to leap to your aid, its not worth engaging under any circumstances, and anything less than a triage carrier, its going to die to the first well coordinated gang that sees you and they're going to laugh their asses off at you.
And that well coordinated gang isn't going to be very hard to find. Buy yourself two or three combat alts to support this thing, since you obviously can, and get them both into triage carriers, since you can obviously afford it and sit at a gate. No one's going to engage a vindicator solo unless you're intentionally waiting for test server mirrors.
Also, while you're ****ing isk away, better make sure you have a full high grade slave set and an Akemon's in too, just so you can waste that much more on this rubbish.
Or, you could go buy a machariel and use an effective combination with a sliepnir or a claymore.
I mean, why not, its not like you're actually investing your isk in an asset that will help your corporation or anything like that. "The point of war is not to die for your country, its to make the other bastard die for his." |

Edited by: TaluxA on 01/11/2010 11:05:35 There's a reason why most good pvp'ers start out with t1 frigates and cruisers.
If you take that vindicator out with no pvp experience it's going to die to the first semi competent gang it comes across. No one in their right mind is going to engage a faction battleship solo or with just a buddy or two. So I can tell you now that you'll be up against a small gang at the very least.
gods coldblood and garmon might look awesome on their videos. And sure, their fittings are great. But they've both had years of pvp experience in thousands of ships and have the income available to support ridiculously expensive faction battleships. Either of those players in any ship would be able to get some amazing kills.
If you really want to test it out take one for a spin on the test server.
