For the upcoming updates to eve online, I would really love to see a gladiatorial combat arena for capsuleers where players can compete against one another. The actual fighting 1 vs 1 would be done via console gameplay, but players from the eve online universe could also watch and participate through gambling and betting on the opponents.
Think how cool it would be to have space gladiatorial fights in 0 gravity!

i actually wouldn't mind this but i fear it would take more people out of 0.0 and low sec.

So I get Unreal Tournament in my Eve Online as well as Dust 514.
Strangely enough, I actually play an internet space ships game to fly internet spaceships.

so are you talking the acutal piolets or a "safe place" where 2 ships can fight it out with out worry of some griefer showing up.
if its the first i say "why"
if its the second i belive the devs stated that the game engine likes to fall down and die when you tell it that when X ship in Y systems area blows up that it didnt realy blow up.
I guess as a fix you could simple have the game copy both ships ( or each teams ships) and at end of battle all there ships blow up and then those copys drop back into there hanger

guys remember when Han Solo won the millenium falcon from Calrissian, think about it, you want that expensive ship but you cant afford it.... the answer is gambling!

Old idea that gets posted every couple of months. I believe that there was a corp (don't know that it still existed) that organised fights between players and acted as a bookie so other players could place bets.
It easy for players to arrange, all the fighters have to do is drop a can and the other one loots it. The corp organising the betting would require that the player place a deposit is case of cheating.
Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

Dustiator 1 vs 1 but open to eve online players for betting, would be nice if we could watch the matches within the stations too.

How exactly? There is no reason a match has to take place in highsec, plus I would love to see a tournament style gladiatorial battle royale, where ONE guy represents a corp / alliance and has to compete against others for glory and honor!

well you dont need to fly low/null to find a fight, plenty of opportunity in highsec.

Absolutely, because all ships are balanced around 1v1.
However, this could work if there were purpose built ships in the game for this. I say a CONCORD ship with different skins for the various races. Make the the ship and modules identical with swappable subsystems. Could work just like T3 Cruisers, skill books and all.
I'm telling you, Jita 4-4 is the perfect place.

What does this have to do with gladiatorial character fighting? I'm not talking about 1 vs 1 ships.
