So I've recently been hearing about how the Dominix or Navy Dominix are more efficient when using a shield tank set up? I am curious as to the legitimacy of what I am hearing. I've played around with the EFT numbers and moving modules around and the numbers suggest that a Shield tanked Domi puts out more DPS and tanks as much if not more than an Armor tank.
Can anyone verify this or if its worth it to cross train into Shield skills for this? Bleep blop...Bloop..Blip.. |

Confirmed. Shield tanking allows more lows for damage, especially since the introduction of Drone Damage Augmentors. With ASBs being introduced at the same time, high end gank fits went from edgy and somewhat dangerous to pretty mainstream so long as you don't mind spending the scratch to get it set up and burning cap boosters at an alarming rate.
By the by, the shield fits aren't meant to run cap stable. If you're looking for that, you're somewhat better of staying with armor. |

depends on what you want to use it for. Shield is a good option for pvp, but doesn't have the saying power in pve. |

As per usual, you don't need "staying power" in PvE if you just kill fast enough. DDAs made this quite possible. 1100 DPS at 50km optimal is no slouch.
It's all easier done on a Navy Domi with its extra mid of course. |

Armor still has the Nuet Fit able to dedicate its lows to just Drone Damage damage same with the RR Fit. Armor is also good if you need Duel Webs or Sentry Omni's or Sebo's and what have you in your mids.
For Lazy PvE Armor is the way to go. Alt Tabbers choice. Shield you're not gonna lose it to a mission if your there, have the basic SP, a good internet connection and 2 brain cells to rub together. Better for speed. |

Armor's better tank, shield's better damage. Not rocket science, no pun intended. |

Hopefully someone will fight the goons with a full ASB fleet and maul them. It will lead to the nerf they need once CCP's batphone starts ringing..

The thing tanks exactly like a CNR: 6 mid slots. That is all you need for PvE. I've been flying one the DNI and CNR for quite some time. Both great ships. I preffer the DNI for Guristas missions. |

Should still do just fine. |

I have to admit, for me, the ship is a specialized tool. I got sick of ECM missions and wished that I had more drones.
At range, the sentries hit with plenty of power w/o any help. I do switch them out for cruisers that get to close. Now, you can swap out a tank mod for a damage assist mod. Me, I use it to boost 425RGs. At range, I can often alpha frigates. BSs melt. It's great for Guristas. Anything else, I use another ship from my collection. |

The feedback is all very much appreciated. I've been out of the game for so long that it seems as if every time I log in, there is a new module or game mechanic I hear or learn about. Again, the replies are very much appreciated. I'd rather submit to being a non-informed 'noob' than willfully ignorant. =) Bleep blop...Bloop..Blip.. |

One of the things that make the CNR such a good mission ship is its engagement range.
Gallente ships have, I think, THE shortest targetting range of any ships. Unless you fit range mods on your sentry Domi you may find yourself slowboating into targetting range quite often.

It's the drone control range that gets annoying more often, in my experience.
Unless you count the Vindicator. ******* Vindicator. |
