Hello, I was wondering about some rigs on my over-priced rifter. I need one that will give maximum tank, and I've had trouble between Shield Regen Rigs, Shield Extender Rigs, and Resist Rigs. For example: My Rifter Fit:
[High] 150mm Autocannon II 150mm Autocannon II 150mm Autocannon II
[Medium] 1MN Afterburner II Warp Scrambler II Medium Shield Extender II
[Low] Tracking Enhancer II Damage Control II Power Diagnostic System II
[RIGS] Small Core Defence Field Extender I Small Core Defence Field Extender I Small Core Defence FIeld Extender I
Now, the rigs I bolded are the ones I use, but there are other kinds that I've tried out, such as:
[RIGS] Small Core Defence Field Purger I Small Core Defence Field Purger I Small Core Defence Field Purger I
OR
[RIGS] Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
________________________________________
I know rigs on a frigate aren't the smartest idea, considering you tend to lose them, but I've only lost my ship against dramiels, and managed to kill an Ishkur Pilot [obviously a noob one], so I'm impressed with the results of my stupidity. Anyway, which one of these rig outfits would you prefer, and which would you think would benefit me the most? [Note, that the Resist Rigs are 1/9 of the price of the other rigs]

150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I, Gremlin Rocket
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
This is my exact fit, a t2 rocket laucher cant fit even with max skills. I know it has no damage control, but it works for tackling bigger ships getting in a right orbit and with an overview tab set up for JUST drones it works quite well.
At 11m a loss a few good level 4s or even level 3's pays for plenty.
Though i wouldn't use regen rigs not enough raw buffer or resists

Cool fit, but I don't have max skills. My skilsl are pretty bad, at 2.2Mil SP. I only have 43.80 PG without the Power Diagnostic System.
But anyway, should I use the Resist Rigs or the Extender rigs? I need one choice. :) I honestly like the Resists because they reduce the damage you take, and they're really cheap. But I also like the Extenders because they give me a lot more buffer, [about 450 shield hp I believe].

Personally I would go resistance rigs. The extenders increase by percentage and with a Rifters already small shields that won't be very much. I'm not sure if the resistance rigs add sig radius either... if not that would be another reason to go resistance.

I would use x1 anti-em screen reinforcer and x2 core defence field extender - this brings your resists up to a semi-well-rounded level and gives more passive shield tank. This way you get the maximum tank but won't die horribly if your enemy uses emp.

Work?
Is there another way to fit it?
This is my fit - 4M to lose when popped, more then that is just too much... and can be fit with less then perfect skills...
L: Gyrostabilizer II Overdrive Injector System II Damage Control II
M: J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Medium Azeotropic Ward Salubrity I
H: 150mm Light AutoCannon II,Hail S 150mm Light AutoCannon II,Hail S 150mm Light AutoCannon II,Hail S OE-5200 Rocket Launcher,Caldari Navy Gremlin Rocket
R: Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Enjoy
I put this into EFT and it has just over 5k EHP, 50% resists across the board, moves @ 1200+ m/s with 45m sig radius... does 140 dps with T2 ammo and faction rockets. 160 dps overheated. Ofc with all lev V skills - mine isnt just that awesome.

Mmm
Yea that would work as well - but then again - its really alot more expencive and everyone and their mother uses EM and thermal these days...

Using hail ammo orbiting at 1200 its pretty silly. Actually using hail is always silly ( due to track penalty), at least until ccp don't give us a valid reason to use them. Put faction ammos.
i would also drop the overdrive for a mapc and then put 200mm autos |

Rockets on a fit with no web seems like a waste of fitting for little real benefit. As for the question of rigs I find 1 gun rig, 1 defence rig and 1 fitting or if not needed a second gun/defence rig is in order.

They most certainly do, just as armor resist rigs add mass.
But at any rate, one gunnery and two resist rigs does seem to make the most sense to me though I'd consider an ambit, a collision accelerator, and an anti-EM as well.

Rifter with no MWD is not something I would fly:
[Rifter, Rifter] Damage Control II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Tracking Enhancer II
Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Medium Shield Extender II Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S 150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Gremlin Rocket
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Small Ancillary Current Router I Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
TE can be something else as well of course. I just like the falloff. --- "And thus, another of the world's dreamers died, taking his dreams with him. Just as John Lennon wanted world peace, Gerald Bull simply wanted a gun big enough to fire **** into space." |

Edited by: Devil tiger on 03/11/2010 16:25:27 I used to play with tanking as well on my rifters but then I strated thinking about it and figured it bets to just screw the armor all together and just stuff it full of whoop-ass and lost just as often as I had previously but now I also gained sometimes as well...

Edited by: MMMPODS on 04/11/2010 01:31:54 The best rifter fit I've came across and actually had alot of success with is this:
[Rifter, New Setup 1] 200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Small Armor Repairer II
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption Warp Scrambler II 1MN Afterburner II
200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S 200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S 200mm AutoCannon II, EMP S [empty high slot]
Small Trimark Armor Pump I Small Trimark Armor Pump I Small Trimark Armor Pump I --------------------------------------------
You can down size the guns and use a nos but this is max damage.

this setup deals 70 dps from 15 kms, goes 1300 meters per second, and can tank reasonably well. it has held up against interceptors, assault ships and faction frigates so far. with some good skills and tactics, this setup owns. don't knock it till you try it please.

Very interesting idea.. the only thing that's not convincing me its the SAR but no resistance mods or rigs. Usually using a repairers you optimize the efficiency increasing resistance instead to increase hp points with low resistance.
Since you put 3x trimarks and if you put a named scrambler instead to a T2 you save enough cpu to put another 200mm plate:
2x 200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1x Damage Control II
1x Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption 1x Jb5 scrambler 1x 1MN Afterburner II
3x 200mm AutoCannon II, RF EMP S 1x [empty high slot]

Those are some good fits guys, but a balmer series TD costs around 4mil - maybe a little excessive for a rifter.

you are right .. but the setup i posted above had some cpu left so you can easilly fit other td's. I dont remember exactily dow much, just remember that there was not enough for T2, but other named should not be a problem.
