Get rid of it. Install AVAST! Home or AVG.

This is why you partition the OS onto a different partition on the HDD or put it onto an entirely seperate HDD. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Maybe overheating.
Maybe data on hard drive is too fragmented.

Edited by: Barakkus on 03/11/2010 21:36:13 Check your display drivers, make sure you have the recommended (not necessarily the latest).
Those problems can be caused by ****ty display drivers sometimes.
You really should have your OS on a seperate drive, not another partition on the same drive, it won't do anything for you putting it on a seperate partition on the same drive in terms of performance. You can get away with a cheap 250 gig drive for the OS. Install your games on your big drive, regular programs can go on the OS drive. Probably should keep all your media on the second drive too.

You checked the event log? Things like disk problems and other such nastiness is often logged for your perusal and diagnosis.

A rundown of system specs could help aswell. Generally speaking it sounds indeed like graphic driver issues or a CPU that can't keep up with it due to some problem or another. Open your task manager, set it on the CPU usage tab and open a program. If your CPU isn't loaded by that it's something else. If it's running up to 99% or something and sticks there it could be that it's either dying or that it can't perform due to excessive heat issues. ___________

Sounds to me like its either the harddrive or your OS.
The half life of a HD is about 3 years, half of the HDs have died after 3 years.
Try reinstalling your OS, if that dont help, get a new OS.
Then again it might be a memmory error. How are your ram? ________________________________________________ Tau - Yeah we suck in close combat. To bad you will never get there. For the greater good!!

Check all the little bits of crap that are running in the background, aka services. There's only about seven you really need.
