Edited by: Culmen on 07/11/2010 20:12:48 The short answer is, more thrashers then the node could handle. The longer answer is, more thrashers on grid then it would take for chribba to notice and get out, especially since I just said his name, and he now knows it.
The exact figure is between 636.87 t1 arty fit thrashers getting one shot off and 795.37. Assuming chribba isn't running a damage control or ENAM. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Considering the Veldnaught is shield tanked with expanded cargohold IIs and cargo rigs in the lows it shouldn't be that much HP to remove. The problem will be to find any volunteers to pull the trigger.

It's doable.
And I'm sure that, if you could fund enough Tempests, you'd find the manpower.
Mind you, no one is going to use their main. And you won't find 1000 people willing to make alts and train them to tempests (Thats a month of time and spending at least a plex each).
So, you'll either have to pull it off with newbie thrashers, or, shell out about 350m for each member of your fleet. Prolly 2-3x as much as people will scam you for plexes to activate alts and such.
It'd be a big deal for about 10 minutes, but the veldnaught will still be just as relevant as ever. It's an idea more than an object. No one cares about a revelation. It's that it's chribba's and in highsec; in before veldnaught memorial etc.
tl;dr: It's doable. No, you won't get somehow griefed out of the game, unless you do it with your main. You probably won't find the support. Unless you find a way to macro 1000 accounts and fund them all. 17,500$ + the cost for all the hardware you'd need to run it. Then you have to bait Chribba out with 1000 people named Fhsdguhsugdh in local in tempests after publicly announcing a plan.
@OP: Do it. If you have 1000 thrashers I'd be amused to see you try. It'd fail, but it'd be a hilarious fail, and can you imagine the concord fleet? |

Killing some-one in Eve is playing the game with them . Many of our pliots are out there to put notches on their piloting record. Thats what they live and train for in the universe.
And what a kill-mail to be on... well worth a day of ratting for the sec-status hit.

considering such a fleet would require alot of logistics and organization (or 1 guy with like 4 good computers) its probably a fair chance someone would know when to expect it... and many pilots would show up to defend the veld god. (myself included) chances are, enough people would show up that the second ur fleet warped in people would start ganking it. or the node would crash and the great veld god would live to mine another day.

I don't think anyone is saying that its somehow cheating to attack the veldanaut, just that some things are kinda part of the mythology of eve now. When the goons think your suicide gank idea is too petty and gay to be bothered with, then you have yourself a problem.
Also, high sec caps are not as replaceable as you might think.

The OP was a pretentious idea backed up by people who seem to have this weird love for one character in EVE. For no real reason?
I have nothing against the Mr C but I really do not get this insane love for him in a game that contains people who, in normal circumstances, would open your pod up and **** down your neck after they have ganked you?
It's a bit like a mafia boss killing everyone but then helping an old lady across the road?

Because EVE is based upon pride, trust ans respect. People are happy to gank and pod people for pride of their own kill-board or because they don't trust the other player not to do it to them.
Conversely the community in general trusts Chribba and his services and therefore he has earned the respect of many players for not only providing the service he does but for actually getting it off the ground in the first place and maintaining his integrity.
The 3rd party service also represents a true role / service that was not invented by the game designers but was possible to be created by a player. Lots of people call this the 'sandbox' but either way it's nice to have this freedom within an MMO.
In short, the Community is proud of Chribba.

Nope I am sorry but plenty of other people have contributed just as much to EVE. I just find it really strange. As stated I am not: bitter, jealous, want to kill him or any other thousand things I just truly am mystified by it all.

putting up a simple wiki, ok, not that hard of a task, adding the starting content, some credits for that granted but most of the content there is from users AND you get the max out of it, if you pick your agents by using eve-agents, one of chribbas sites :p

What about Estel Arador who created the jump clone corp free of charge for people? http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=939710. He isn't idolised?
nice job he did there, however if you have any longer playing friends you probably can get jumpclones for free aswell (rorqual anyone?)

Nope I am sorry but plenty of other people have contributed just as much to EVE. I just find it really strange. As stated I am not: bitter, jealous, want to kill him or any other thousand things I just truly am mystified by it all.
there are other people who have done alot of stuff for eve, and they actually earned some credit aswell, but chribba sole amount of stuff he did exceeds everyone else by far.
since alot of people only know him for his tattoo or his 3rd party services here a short list of a few other things chribba is doing:
eve-files.com: if you are into eve-videos, you have to love him for that. eve-search.com: couldnt live without it eve-agents.com: during the time i tried missioning this was one of the sites i spend most time with, also its something i recommend to everyone who starts missioning. eveboard.com: prefered charactersheet side eve-offline.net: probably not interesting for most people, but in my favorites list of the browser aswell there is a few other webpages he made aswell, and while i dont use 'em i know alot of other people do. and the *best* running supercapital lottery in this game.

if its the same 'half of eve' that came to his aid when his tcu was attacked thus making him lose sov, there is not too much to worry about.

Dread EHP - 3kk(probably less) Alpha of single 1400 arty with trashy fit and skills - about 1k So mere 400 ppl can one-shot the veldnaught for sure if they use 8-gun arty battleships |

I would think, if Chribba had any clue an attack was coming, he would prepare DEFENSIVELY for it. I know he can't equip guns, but I hadn't seen anything that says he can't equip defensive measures. I have never flown a dread, but I would assume they have a buttload of hitpoints.

this chribba dude must have one clean and soggy arse from kissing its getting.
nothing against the guy but the level of brown nosing going on here is reaching a new level.
Originally by: Sirref Naes If this gank succeeded, It would be your last. Chribba Code 66 would be initiated to its fullest effect and the darkest days of EVE would be witnessed as the Chribba Lore fulfilled its destiny.
As stated by the Chribba Lore; "Hallowed be the Chribba."
this could be the greatest kill mail farm in the history of eve.

Chribba does provide demonstrations if he is not busy and you ask nicely. I personally have a stack of 100 veldspar mined by the Velnaught before my eyes. It is one of my most prized possessions.

Also, during the last alliance tourny, in between matches, you could see his ship on the amarr cam. It was interesting seeing all those ships flying around it. I think a ton of people were remote repping it for no reason.

Those were likely Chribba's alts(Alt ***** of the 1st degree). Perhaps he anticipated the possible gang attempt and put reps up JiC.

Veldspar + Dreadnought = VeldNaught. Carriers and dreads were once build-able in HS, Titans never were.

You are being paranoid. It was just something that looked good on camera and done because it attracted the eye of the viewers. Similar to having a fast small ship orbit a BS and having the BS fire it's beam lazors on the smaller vessel. Cool lightshow for the audience and a way to put yourself above the other camera *****s.

I'll try to fraps, but from a laptop, the lag may result in a less than desireable video. Since I will have a free Thrasher from the OP, I'll volunteer. When/where. I'll also provide myself faction EMP ammo to bring the shields down.
My fees: 20 Million isk.
