Edited by: Aamrr on 08/11/2010 03:27:30 New Eden is a glorious landscape of freedom, rife with opportunity for all the would lay stake to its bountiful resources. Throughout capsuleer culture, we see innumerable professions and subprofessions, each with their own skills and tools.
Indeed, the first message that a prospective capsuleer learns upon falling out of his clone vat invites them to explore the many paths to wealth and success.
Of these, though, one is omitted. A humble, but glorious role, vital in impact if small in scope. Perhaps I should slow down a bit...
In New Eden, those capsuleers that choose to ply their trades against other capsuleers earn the distinction of being called "pirate." It is not a negative attribution, but merely a factual one -- they have chosen to lay ply skills toward a more independent trade, in the hopes of more lucrative gains.
Others choose a more indirect role, appearing from the shadows to pick the riches from those that have neither the wit nor cleverness to take it first. These we call ninjas, for their swift hands pluck candy from the children that don't deserve them.
By extension, are not the mission hunters...the ninjas with teeth that return to teach arrogant agent-slaves the lessons they so deserve...the noblest of all residents in New Eden? For they are both ninja and pirate -- by definition, deities unto themselves.

Considering most "pirates," "ninjas," and pvp'ers in general have a mission bear alt and most mission bears conversely have an alt for gank...

what i'd like to know is how these mission thieves ever figured they were entitled to use the name ninja. if they were at all ninja like stuff would just vanish with the mission runner having no idea who was involved. instead they stumble about in plain sight. it's almost like being ripped off by inspector clouseau clones.

Some missioners don't actually notice a ninja salvager, soooo...yeah.
What I've noticed, cause I talk to salvagers when they come in to my mission, is that they are actually newbs. You may think, "Oh they just created an alt to ninja salvage", but nay. They are newbs to the core.

Ahem. By chance is the OP one of these, uh, self-deified ninja-pirates? A Romantic look at a kind thief who takes from the rich, average, and poor and who gives to himself?
Humble but glorious role, fulfilling the void in lo-sec just as the boogeyman hides under the bed or in the closet?
I am stunned to realise the nod to humility, the striving of freeing mission-runners from their slave master agents, and taking of spoils as their "fee"?
Oh you ebon-wrapped wielders of cosmic justice, you who sacrifice dignity and self-respect for buckles of swash and rotting teeth, I salute you! o7

Mission runners are practitioners of the oldest profession, not noblest. You see, Mission Runners are prostitutes. Think about it: They go do unsavory things for strangers (Agents) while someone else (corp) takes a cut of the profits. And they occasionally get their asses kicked and run to the cops (CCP, forumwarriors) who routinely ignore them.

Edited by: Professor Tarantula on 09/11/2010 04:51:35 Mission runners are exterminators. Bravely destroying swarms of NPCs for helpless station dwellers.
Pirates will do anything for a killmail. No matter how degrading.
