Hello, does a drone navigation computer help mining drones mine any faster, or is it just for combat drones.

Navigation Computer, not Mining Computer. They fly faster, that's it. They'll take less time traveling between you and the asteroid they're mining and that may increase their "effective yield", but I'm sure you can find some other and more pointfull uses for a med slot. Just move closer to the roid and you'll have a similar effect and still a spare med slot.

The Drone Navigation Computer increased the MWD speed of drones.
If we look at the max. speed of Mining Drones, we see 400(500;250)m/sec (T1, T2, Harvester). Now, let's compared with the fastest bugger out there - the Warrior II. It's max. speed is 5040m/sec, unbonused.
This suggests that the mining drone don't have a microwarpdrive, there the Drone Navigation Computer won't do squat for them.

There is logic in OP's question:
Faster mining drones = less time spent travelling = more time spent mining = higher yield.

He asked if they mine faster with it and well... they don't. They just move slightly faster. Moving closer to the roid has the same effect, if not even a higher one, after all, plus a spare med slot.

Also, they do have an MWD. It's just limited to 500m/s (for T2s).
