I'm training up to an Obelisk because I have no idea what else to train to. But every Incursion zone I go to I always see people advertising Min and Gallente ships, which have very little use for Shield Transfers. |

There used to be a LOT of shield fleets in incursions. Mach's, Fleet Tempests, Nightmares, Shield Vindi's, etc. You can fill the bottom slots with damage mods. Makes for big time DPS. |

Minmatar and Gallente ships, and their related pirate faction vessels, are generally popular for incursions partly because they deliver their DPS immediately and do not spend too much ammunition / time on Sansha targets that are already dead. Of course there are other ships, especially nightmares (shield tanks and immediate DPS) and Vindicators (usu armor and immediate DPS), but as a general GÇÿruleGÇÖ using turrets is attractive for incursion fleets and the minmatar / gallente tend to have decent hi-DPS turret ships. Shield or armor fleets do fine in incursions, with many debating the pros and cons of both. Shield tank tends to rely on mid-slot modules and so often leaves your low-slots relatively free for DPS boosting modules GǪ and the delivery of large amounts of immediate and effective DPS is an important part of efficient incursion running. ItGÇÖs been a long time since IGÇÖve incursioned but all the fleets I ran with were shield-rep supported GǪ basilisks and scimitars GǪ and our primary DPS ships were usually machariels and nightmares, with the occasional vindicator or charity tengu. Machs and Mares lend themselves very well to shield PvE setups, with their lows usually either supporting their cap / shields or boosting their DPS, and so the basilisks and scimitars become critical to fleet success with their large shield transfers.
If youGÇÖre gonna be doing this for a little while then logi V, and good fitting skills, becomes very useful GǪ well worth the training time IMO. Also you will probably find (unless the nerfs have changed the overall dynamic hugely) that a decent basi / scimi is gonna be much more in-demand than any of the dime-a-dozen DPS ships. You earn the same isk, put a much less expensive ship at risk, and will be invited to more fleets. For shield fleet incursion running basis rule, with scimis close behind ... and that ranking is usually reversed once you get into PvP shield fleet logi support where the scimiGÇÖs self-sufficiency and other features tend to make it much more popular than the basi. In PvP fleets logis are also in great demand, but are not always attractive to fly (probably) because they do not tend to get on hundreds of killmails per engagement. Some large PvP organisations pay isk-bonuses to ppl who fly scimis, to try and increase the numbers of these essential ships in their fleets.
We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |
