Post is based on true events.
You've just purchased your 1st Interceptor. You've fitted it for pvp. Your skills are crap, but you polish the warp scambler freshly fit into your ship's bay.
Where do you go? What do you do?
Your guns aren't good enough to go 1v1 against other frigates. You probably couldn't even kill a mining barge if you wanted to. But you're in a fast ship, and you know another player would love you on their wing. You're just a mouse, flying through the jungle, looking for a lion to hang around. A lion with a thorn in it's paw. You know you're useful, so how do you get started?
Is 'join a corp' the only answer for a new tackler? Can I fly around and look for gangs to join. Is there a LFG channel? What's there to do? Soloing with only 2 million skill points is probably just going to get me killed, right?

Purchasing a t2 ship with 2mil sp was your first mistake.
Now go sell that useless thing and fly rifters until you graduate from newbdome.

Naw it's fine, I have a miner account so I can afford a cheap interceptor. I've also been a hardcore pvp player in other mmo's and have experience running in premade groups and using ventrilo to communicate. I just want to know how someone in eve gets involved, are corps the only system for getting involved? Are there chats or arranged areas people will invite me to a fleet?

Your options:
- red vs blue
- eve uni
- faction warfare
- ask around in your NPC corp chat (some NPC corps do PVP roams)
- find and join a proper PVP corp

Tbh, Faction Warfare sounds like would be good for you. There is ALWAYS a desire for more fast tackle. Highsec wars suck, and intys aren't all that useful with Dictors in nullsec fights being able to tackle entire fleets. Granted, you'll be used for warpins, but you won't learn anything about actual combat.
Gimmie a shout if that sounds like something you'd want to do.

While there might be some areas to organize into fleets... (I've never seen any)
The chance of being betrayed and killed in low sec are dramatically high. Basicly they invite you to a fleet and you head out... then they kill you.
Your best option honestly is to join a corporation that does active PVP.
I'm currently in a corp that does hisec wardecs, hisec pirating, lowsec PVP, and nullsec PVP.. Most of which are done in frigates and cruisers.
It would be a great place for an interceptor pilot. Leme know if you are intrested.

Get your phrases right, A lion with a thorn in it's paw is an angry lion, not a lion with a tag-a-long killmail *****.
Back on topic, it sounds like you could try looking into getting into some frigate roams. Joining/forming a corporation with like-minded people will usually mean that you'll have a lot of fun, and potentially, lots of success. It's the new/small corps that stand out that are more impressive and on the whole, more effective.
What I'm saying is, find friends, chill, do what you guys like and get good at it. ------------------- Always remember this about EVE:

Joining a good FW pvp corp will give you alot of targets and gangs to fly with, just don't stick in general militia or you will get bored very quickly.
