Let's try to ouline major issues and leave opinionated feedback to the main thread.
Character creator does not work for female characters. In "Outer" category, object 13.13 that is available to Caldari Deteis males makes your character disappear.

Most of the color selections don't work. Actually only the main option is selectable, but you can't control weight, scarring, aging, lighting etc..
Active face "sculpting" regions disappear under the sculpt, especially the mouth area.

Edited by: Geddings on 11/11/2010 21:56:05 yeah why is that we cant make females? that is really frustrating considering all the nice female videos out on youtube. If you took this long to renable charecter creation why didn't you have female mmodels too? and why cant you rotate the camera with the right mouse button or wheel? that does not make since either.
if this is coming out this month it seems a lot more work needs to be done.
:-(
ok i go back in and now i can rotate the camera, however the graphics glitch when minimizing the screen and the background dissipears and sometimes the model does too.
and it would be nice to have a color selector option too for clothes too.

Same thing here.
The UI is really much improved which it's nice to see ù it's just that it doesn't quite work, and of course that many of the assets aren't there.
So nice work on the parts that work! ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Character creation is coming out in Jan so don't worry, be sorted by then.. I hope
I am also having the same problems too though, no female character models show up for me and none of the sliders work or colour pickers for male models (I assume they wouldn't work for the female models too) I'm pretty bummed, been waiting to get my hands on trying out the new creator cause I missed the first Incursion tests.
I'm using a Nvidia 250 GTS
Please try and fix this soon CCP :( --------------------------------------------- LAZA POWA!

I'm having similar issues as well. Female models do not load at all, and I can't sculpt male models. The sculpting area highlights do not even appear and the buttons, they do nothing!

- randomly editor leaves sculpting mode and then i can only change the accessories like hair, eyes etc. after that, haven't found an option to revert to sculpting (very annoying)
- the 'low quality' version of the models has no lighting, so it's pretty dark and difficult to sculpt
- UI is a bit unintuitive with the slide panel and contextual UI items and implicit modes (sculpting mode vs. accessory mode)
(on a side note, great improvement to the last version so far, got some good random faces, too)

Aye, female models dont even appear, and on the male models it disappears half the time anyways. Any info on if this is gonna be fixed would be nice.

I'm assuming you meant to say "when this feature is going to be fixed" instead of if. Otherwise I could go on for hours with "Here's your Sign" jokes
Aside from my snarkiness today, I too am a bit disappointed with the absence of female models currently from Incursion. I am uncertain if this is because they're wearing a new super-stealth suit, or if they're on-strike due to labor disputes. In the meantime, I tinkered with some male models, and they seem to be a little better than I recall from previous Incursion versions. I noticed that when the male model disappears, it seems to be with specific clothing or accessory options.
Finally, other than many of the UI controls don't work, I do like the new layout for many of the options, and the mini-preview of clothing\\accessory options will be nice when they work right (several previews aren't quite right, or don't show enough detail).
The new blue indicators for sculpting areas are a little better, and seem a little more responsive than before, but I still want some sliders and/or numbers. At the very least, I still would like to see some method of seeing all sculptable points on a body, without having to resort to trial-and-error by mousing over every inch of the model for those small areas that are easy to miss.

To call this feature "broken" is such a massitve understatement. I am trying it on a macbook, both mac and dualbooted to PC OS, which can run the normal EVE client just fine, and it barely works, only for my male toons and only with the options set ot their lowest. Now, when I say "works," I mean that it is dark and has no background, buggy, looks like ****, can't sculpt, missing half the assets and the client crashes when I try to take the portrait. Any other settings or trying to make a female toon just makes me hang in the loading screen forever. This feature is months and months from completion at a bare minimum.

Although I must admit I like the new login, nice and ominous :)
I agree, I like the new login + music too.
As for your performance issues, I went through something similar. I recently had to downgrade my Video Card on my PC (had to use a 7800GTX, from a 8800GT that died just before Round 2 hit) and the performance hit was incredible. The interesting thing was, even taking all settings down to the absolute minimum didn't really improve performance at all (it sucked just about as much at high settings as it did on low settings). This makes me suspect that there's certain bugs or code optimizations for lower-end hardware that need to be addressed. Now that I'm back up to speed with a new Video Card (a NVidia 460GX card, for the record) the performance is much better now.
As for my feelings on the current Character Customization interface, I do like what I see, but with it barely functioning right now, it's very hard to give it an honest evaluation. Certain outfits for men will cause the avatar to disappear, and female avatars are completely invisible. --- If you've read something I posted and want to contact me, EVE-Mail me, or contact me via EVE Gate. |

I was trying to engage a member of the ccp staff, so i could get more information, but if you want to leave pithy comments and be real technical then we can do that on another forum not devoted to the test server.

I just signed up for a Power Of 2 second account. What really sucks is not being able to preview all the new character "looks" before deciding on which race & gender I want for my new toon.
So instead I'll just sit here like a good little mushroom, paying for an account that is not training any skills until CCP gets its act together with the new character creator.
What really frosts my onions is that I actually just paid these bozos another $50, and I'm more annoyed at myself for doing that than I am at them tbh. |

Edited by: James Huston on 13/11/2010 05:23:27 I've got an older system running and AMD Athlon 64, Windows XP, and a GeForce 7800GT. Not the greatest I agree, but it works fine with Tyrannis and I can run 2 accounts on my 2 screens without any major issues. Unfortunately, character creation STARTED to work when I first loaded it but it had a framerate in the sub-1's. I changed a few settings but instead of being able to do anything, I lost the models all together and I can't get them back, male, female, nothing. Even worse, when Character Creation was working, I couldn't change anything. If you guys are going to preview this thing, then you need to make sure what you preview works. There is no point in showing us different weights and such if we can't actually change them other than clicking the "randomize" button.

Another issue with the character creator - the Khanid Helmet is not available. I will be a sad panda if I cannot have my helmet.

No females are present, only males work at the moment.
Edit: Females are actually there, but I guess there's a glitch in the shader or the like, since you can still see the control zones. Something very basic is broken on the female characters. -------------------------------------------------

It's actually hard to give any constructive critique as the character editor is still in alpha stage. Most of the resources are missing. So there's no point saying we need this and that since most what's needed or was available in old creator is not available atm. Then again, I don't want a duplicate either to the old one. I'm ready for some new garments, tattoos and the like. Some iconic features should be there of course, whether it be a helmet or a cape. -------------------------------------------------
