Edited by: azumi las on 16/11/2010 10:26:50 I am fairly new to 0.0 ratting, and i am doing it on a hound, i believe its going fairly well, making around 20-25m/hour only in bounties, but i feel i am doing it wrong or not the optimal way. my first question is: how much is expected to be made per hour for a bomber ratting in lets say a -0.7 system after chainning the rats?
my second question: HOW is it supposed to be done? what i am doing is: uncloak > 2 volleys > cloak for 1-2 torp cycles rinse repeat, i rarelly ever get locked but when i do i need to warp out and come back i am feeling i waste too much time cloaked and thus taking forever to chain the rats. so, is there a way to actually tank the belt? speed tank maybe? if yes, some details would be appreciated.
and my third question: are there any other small ships(read t1 frig up to cruiser) that outperforms a bomber by a significant amount at ratting?
thanks in advance

20-25m /h in a bomber its hard to pull off regulary (it works if you already got chains setup by somebody else). Setting up the chains in a bomber its certainly doable but time and ammo inneficent.
And no, you don't need to cloak just kill threatening frigates, kill the battleships and warp to next belt. Ab + med shield extender should be all tank needed. Try to cloak in between belts so u land cloaked in belt (if you lose connection while in warp uncloaked towards a belt you will lose your bomber). Also a somewhat pimped fit its required for maximum revenue, however a sigle bad timed disconnect and u lose the ship... Also make sure you've got industrial full with ammo near by, you will need it.

2-3 bombers can clear anomalies with little trouble. A lone bomber however is like trying lvl 4's with a frigate.

You can kill even frigates from a belt with a bomber but hitting a roid will kill your bomber instantly ... So it's best to just kill the BS's and warp away.

Edited by: Traska Gannel on 16/11/2010 21:55:33 Some more suggestions ...
1) Keep range and traversal up ... I took very little damage when I did this (against Angel 0.0 belt rats) ... never move toward the NPCs in a straight line when closing range. Also, since a skilled and fitted bomber can hit with standard torpedoes from 80km ... you should be able to stay at your maximum targeting range.
2) Kill frigates first ... stay a long way from them and be ready to warp out if you can't kill them fast. NPC frigates will rip you apart if they get in range and some will web and scramble. The battleships won't be able to hit you if you have decent traversal. If you try to kill the BS first the frigates will likely be on you and you will likely die if scrambled.
3) Fit a target painter or two if slots allow. Bombs not needed for ratting. At least one BCS and preferably 2 to maximize damage. Have an ammo supply dump handy :)
