Not from a
"OMG nerf this i keep getting war decced" point of view, that'd happen anyway, but from an immersion point of view.
I mean, what your essentially paying for is a sanctioned trade war, supposedly, asking concord and the authorities to turn a blind eye while you wreck someone else's buissness
Surely this should be expensive? at least more so than the price of the average battleship?
You'd have thought it would cost a fair amount for a company to go to war with another company, especially considering the money to be made from stealing the attacked companies trade routes/buissness
as it stands it costs around the same amount as a cruiser?

It is way too easy to create a corp to avoid the 11% NPC tax. Just saying. From an immersion point of view, of course...

I have always thought that the dec costs should be a variable rate based on the size of both corps/alliances. Would be very expensive for a large corp to dec a small, but very cheap for other way around.
But yea, 2M/week for corp to corp (iirc) is stupid cheap. -----------------------------------

confirming Yarrtards are Yarrtards.
anyways, yes its been said lots of times, war dec's should be almost 10 times the current amount a single lvl 4 mission = 10 weeks of war at the current price for corp vs corp
for alliance vs alliance or w/e its 50mil a week, which is about 2 lvl 4 missions ( with loot ) per week, a single person can bring that amount in to fund the war. wars should be costly, not just in isk, but in time and to be honest, wars shouldn't be fought unless they are big enough to actually change the region economy, if not the war was too small to begin with

Both the wardec costs as the ability to switch corporations to avoid wars are quite silly. EVE won't win any beauty prizes for those.

It's an administrative fee to process the war declaration paperwork, nothing more.

The problem with war dec costs and even war decs in general is the vastly different amount of incomes some corps have at this point.
My corp has some players who have been around awhile, if we want say 3 decs at once cost is the last thing we consider.
On the other hand you take the average corp of players under 2 years old and war costs seem daunting to most(not all) of them.
Im not sure their is a solution or even if their is a problem - it does make it very easy to pick on corps full of new players.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

I liked the idea that you were just paying an administrative fee in terms of immersion but...Surely it should cost money to invoke a war?
yea there's a difference in the income of many corps, and small corps might not be able to afford more, but then should they? wars serious buissness, you wouldn't expect a few people banded together in a tiny co-operative to be able to afford to invoke a war.
Pvp is free, in 0.0, there is free access to it, there should definatly be some kind of deterrent from just declaring war on everybody you see fit, it is 'civilized' space
I guess that's the thing, there's no real consequence or deterrent, war in hi sec feels like war in low sec; cheap and easy. I don't think it should
And I kind of sympathise with the idea that wars are too easy to wriggle out of, it's a valid point; would the evil hi-sec deccing corps accept a higher cost for war, a realistic cost, if it meant corp's couldn't wriggle away? would that make everyone happier? wars would be more serios, but also less likely

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I happen to know the Ben Bernanke of wardec inflation, and he says that wardec prices can easily be inflated with a few tricks. I'd be happy to tell you how it could be done, but I won't tell these people otherwise they might get improperly agitated.

There's no damage to civilians concord has to deal with, and when you're at war they don't have to intervene during combat in high sec.
I don't see why they would charge for not doing something. |

How about this then: Start with the low 2 mil/week cost. Each week increase the cost by 2 mil. If wardeccing corp drops the dec just to restart it again with lower cost there is a timeout period of one week when they can't wardec the corp.
This doesn't give any higher costs to start a war, but it will make sure the wars end eventually, instead of some asshats just permanently wardeccing carebear corps to have targets during the hour they are online each saturday evening.
Having to pay only 100 mil for a whole year of war is stupid imo.

If you read what I was trying to say....
I do think people avoiding war decs is a problem as well, infact I suggested that they become both more expensive and harder to dodge, thereby removing both sides of the problem... there's less decs so the carebears arn't as 'victimised' but the ones that people do pay for will actually be worthwhile, at the moment the whole system is far too trivial.
I wanna stress the fact that I'm not whining because people are getting harrased, I'm complaining that hi-sec war dosen't feel like it has enough consequences for either side

Funny because your op says it's too cheap and wrecks peoples trade routes and business too easily.
Maybe you should think before posting your brainfarts on the forums.

Well since being in a player corporation is a privilege and not a right if these carebears think they are victimised they shouldn't be in a player corp in the first place right?
edit: By being in a player corporation you accept any and all possible consequences.

haha lady; I stand by what I said, maybe I'm not explaining the concept clearly enough, let me simplify
the current system is cheap and easy, peoples work can be ruined with little or no cost to the aggresing party, the whole affair is trivial and too common
yes, there should be war decs
yes, competition and pvp in hi sec should be possible
no, I don't beleive everybody should have access to it at little or no cost or consequence. It trivializes things, and allows too much impact on small player corperations who work hard and are ruined in a few days because of a bored mercanery corp, this is what I beleive the problem is
no one engages in a war because they need to remove competition or fight over a trade route, they do it because it's easy, cheap and fun. In my eyes this is a dis-service to both parties, and i would far rather war in hi sec was a more serious, less trivial and less common affair.
I wouldn't understand a mining corp whining if someone had hired a merc corp to wardec them for several hundred million, that seems reasonable, and the aggressed corp would have to accept that someone had a legitimate grievance, a reason for war, and face the consequences.
All too often though, corps come under fire because someone's bored or wants to cause hell. That surely is the purpose and reason for null sec, I just don't see why the null-sec playstyle has been brought to hi-sec, and I think wars need to be both more legitimate and more costly.
