Over the past year, and especially over the past 6 months, we've seen a dramatic change in the way non-capital fleet ops are conducted. Unfortunately, in my opinion, not for the better. I speak specifically of Hot Drops. Not too long ago, there was a time where an average/small fleet could successfully roam and/or gate camp provided they used scouts and their brains. Now, it's becoming less a question of fleet tactics, and far more a question of LUCK. The number of hot drops happening is increasing exponentially. Titans are one source, but black ops drops are seriously affecting those who PvP on a smaller scale (fleets less than 40) to the point where your tactics are no longer even relevant.
Now while I like the capability to have Hot Drops, I think like most balanced ideas, there should be something available to balance it. I'll offer up a couple ideas, but I'm sure there are many more. One idea would be to prevent the use of a covert cyno within 50k of a gate. Another would be to greatly increase the black ops jump fuel consumption to the point where you can jump far less ships through. Another might perhaps be a defensive module that when activated, prevents a cyno from being deployed within 50k of that ship. Point being, there is no defense for a Hot Drop, and while fun and part of the game, like the old days of ECM dominance, it's really forcing most PvP to become far less dynamic, and far more dependent on raw Numbers to be successful. I prefer a more balanced approach, where we can use our brain and tactics more, and have the ability to nullify to some limited extent, the purely indeterminate covert cynos.
Respects.

You have my support. I agree to this. All in all simplified logistics, in any shape or form, can have it's negative effects, and 0.0 warfare shows several of them. Actually with the growing number of players and a more or less static size, it would've been wise to separate them instead of bringing them closer together, so that they can all easily blob everywhere, anytime.

You want to nerf Black Ops ships? at one point there were more Titans than BO's I don't think much has changed since then.
What are you doing to be getting dropped on all the time? ratting?

Ok, I'll take a stab at those questions..
"You want to nerf Black Ops ships?" That's one very poor possibility, however I'd prefer that instead of nerfing the ship, that there be some mechanism to provide some balance to the tactic. I.E. some ability on the defensive side to neutralize the covert cyno, or to delay your ability to jump to a covert cyno for 5 or 10 seconds. You have to remember the primary purpose of black ops was to gain entry behind the lines of the enemy, not to change fleet warefare tactics.
"at one point there were more Titans than BO's I don't think much has changed since then." I'd have to disagree a whole lot there. Over the past 6-12 months, BO's have gone WAY up in use for this very purpose. That's why I say things are changing. If you're actively running small/medium fleets like I do, you see a marked difference from a year ago and it's really getting worse every day.
"What are you doing to be getting dropped on all the time? ratting? " Sometimes roaming, sometimes gate camping. If you're running a covert cyno ship, you'll lite that sucker on any group that gets near you. I couldn't say whether it's used on ratters, but you know anyone caught doing any ratting in 0.0 deserves whatever they get for being stupid.

I disagree. There are now many times more BO ships than titans, to the point where there is no comparison in numbers anymore. I have personally seen BO drops of 10+ with recon/sb backup, and looking at how many are moved in jita on a daily basis, I believe bigger fleets are probable...

Don't be ridiculous black ops should be buffed, not nerfed. They can jump ridiculously short distances, they use ****load of fuel and hull alone costs a lot.

You want to nerf black ops?
are you ****ing kidding me?
It`s the most nerfed ship in EVE- seriously in need of some attention to stats and intended function.
A fitted black ops cost way more than a carrier and has the survivability of a tech I battlecruiser, but you feel it`s overpowered because you can`t predict when one is going to land on you.
Come back when you know what it actually takes to fly one in combat..
Hotdropping super-carrier fleets is a problem- hotdropping BOs? Not so much...

I've had a black ops ship for some time so I know exactly what it takes to fly one.. It seems clear to me that there are those individuals such as yourself out there who can only seem to do one kind of PvP, and that is to sit comfortably by your BO ship waiting for a drop on FAR smaller groups.. You might as well just join a pirate ganking group because it's effectely the same.. No thought or skillz required on your part. In other words, no risk seems like the style prefered by some and those same people think BO should be buffed even more. Hey, I sure understand that. Easy is nice isn't it..
