I would like to start inventing t2 mods and ships, I have been skilling up for it, I have R&D agents for datacores etc.
Now I realise that I need t2 moon minerals for it but I have no access to t2 moons etc etc...
After factoring in pos costs for labs and ship/ammo/mod arrays, and time taken to invent etc, is it worth while buying in the t2 minerals for production, it seems that it may be cheaper to buy the mods, ammo, ships that you plan to produce then to make them..
any advice would be greatful received..

Barring a string of bad luck while attempting to invent the T2 BPCs it's usually still profitable when you have to buy the moon materials. I do zero moon mining and I would say 95% of my T2 production turns profit without trouble. Though I have some ammo and frigates that run close or at a loss.

yea this, alot of t2 mods and ships can still be produced with a profit, even whan you buy the components that need moon goodies.

Well i just buy in any moon goo needed to produce said T2 item or moon goo component etc - Infact if you do make moon goo items their is a small increase in total profit.
I normally build all T1 items from modules to ships.
It helpa if ya have researched BPOs to a suitable level of ME & some PE helps, this ultimately saves on mineral consumption & adds to profit, for all the above T1 items/ship bpo to moon goo component bpo etc
As for minerals, L4 mission loot provides a vast amount of my own minerals, then i buy in what i have to for the months cycle... i only mine at the last resort 
Its a long old slog to be effecent & alot of isk invested...
It pays to have alts to assist in the over all managerment of your line, i use 7 avatars to assist in my own operation
