Here's the deal: I recently got into wormhole living and doing sleeper sites solo in my Drake. With a good amount of isk now i'm wondering what ship should I aspire to for the next few months or greater?
I'm thinking of wether going for the Tengu T3 cruiser or the Maelstrom T1 Battleship. Both mainly for PvP purposes but hopefully increasing my income in wormholes also.
Tengu training time outlook:
I already have plenty of Caldari skills. Ship skills, Missile Skills, Shield Skills. All I need is the actual ship and sub system training.
Mael training time outlook: I have pretty much next to no gunnery skills apart from Small Hybrid turret Spec. I have great shield skills. Would need to do a deal of Minmatar ship training and Projectile training.
So i'm wondering which is better for solo/small gang PvP and what is your honest opinion on where I should go from here?

Edited by: Jennifer Starling on 19/11/2010 22:05:38 - - - - - - - - - - - - - Training Minmatar opens up a lot of fun/popular ships that can be shield tanked as well (Rifter, Jaguar, Hurricane, Vagabond), it's definitely worth it, most of them also have missile slots.
That aside, are you prepared to lose a Tengu? You'll pay roughly 400 milliun for one, a Maelstrom costs one quarter of that with 100 million.
A Mael isn't really a small gang ship as it's very slow, it lacks the Minmatar speed that most of their ships have. A Atengu is a very versatile ship but again: it's quite expensive. |

Re-thinking things in my head now and looking at some stuff i'm starting to think that the Rokh my be an excellent choice of a solid PvP Boat. |

Unless you actually want DPS . Remember , the Rokh is a sniper ship and is totally useless at anything besides that. I have one and i can say i love my Tengu much much more.

Hmm, sniper boat you say? :) 1013 DPS w/ Drones, 145K EHP. With some smart overheating this sounds like an amazing solo BS with the right skills.
Small Edit: Also, 7.8km optimal with 16km falloff.

Ah off course if you go for blasters. But i ain't so keen of blasters due to their range actually. But at the end of the day it's what you like the most , the rokh does look awesome after all

Edited by: Conor Todaki on 19/11/2010 23:22:03 I'm still not sure what to go for first. The Tengu would be great for WH sites as I can already solo C3s in my drake i'm sure I could either solo C3s extremly fast or solo C4s in the Tengu. It'd be a lot of isk.
And on the other hand I could have my first truly skilled up Battleship for some epic PvP. Also a possibilty of doing Sleeper sites in the rokh. Not sure yet. Plus the Rokh's cheaper and if I plan on PvPing in the Tengu i'd lose one level of a subsystem skill every time I die and it could get a bit annoying along with how expensive T3s are. I guess it's a choice of PvP or PvE now and i've always been loyal to specifically training for PvP.

Keep in mind that the next expansion (End of the Month) sleepers will regain there lost nueting ability! (currently on Sisi)
They will drain a T3 in quick order. Looks like we need to adopt passive tanks or have spider Logistics with energy transfers.
A Rohk makes a lousy passive tanker as do most Bs, Rattlesnake excepted ofc.

I'm sure they already neut people? Or are those beam trails I see in C3s Nos'es?
Anyway, have you get a Blaster Rokh with Active Tank set up? :)

They show the neut visual effect, but as many of us suspected and CCP has confirmed, they weren't actually neuting.

I did some limited testing of the Sleeper Nuet/nos on Sisi, One Upholder wasnt having any effect at all on my Tengu's cap lvl. That was in a C4.

Given most wormhole combat is based around wormholes, having blasters with that kind of range would probably work pretty well... ----------------------

Ah I was talking about wormhole PvE against sleepers which I don't think most people would think of a Rokh to do. Good idea though. I might just stick with my Drake for WH sleeper sites until I get a tengu after my Rokh or go for a Tengu first.
