I'm sure this idea has probably been tossed out there before, but I figure I could refresh it.
Jita is always full of scammers and spammers making local chat pretty ridiculous at times. I spend a lot time in Jita and I like reading local, apart from the two types of chat mentioned. So I do the only thing I can to filter the junk out: I block A LOT of people as I'm sure many others do.
So my idea was this: If a person is a constant annoyance to everyone else by spamming local with scams or whatever, and they get blocked by say 100+ people then that person should be blocked by the system from speaking in local.
If you agree that a policy like this should be implemented by CCP go ahead and reply to this.
Thanks Jackie Cane

^^This.
EVE players consistently prove their resourcefulness at finding ways to...affect...other players' gameplay. Giving powers to players=bad. Giving it to mobs of players seems doubly so.

It's always ridiculous. There's a simple solution - minimize local when in Jita and pretend that it doesn't exist. That's what I do anyway.

Edited by: Owledge on 04/12/2010 18:07:35 The 'voteban' solution you recommend could be misused by organized people to exclude people from the local chat. Imagine a corporation doesn't like a competitor and they voteban all the other corporation's members from local chat. I'm not saying there's no solution to this, but it could make the whole thing very complicated.

I posted a proposal some time ago, which included but not limited to tradable block list libraries. The CSM majority vote was a pretty resounded NO. Maybe someone could try again and write it better.

CCP needs to make it where faction mods can be sold on the market like any other item.
There goes 50% of all the spam in Jita local. _______________________________________

I hate the spam and scam as much as the next but imo - u enter Jita knowing what to expect, its like entering low sec , u expect to be shot at etc
If you dont like dont go there in my humble opinion, theres plenty of other systems to go to

As a lively trade center, Jita local will always be spammed with contracts and such. No, they're not all scams. And well, If you want to buy something, you use the contract and market windows properly, right? Right?

personally i just say use the report isk spammer. i know it was put there for the RMT jihad but they are spamming and they are stealing isk so i think it is apropriate to bring it to ccp's attention.
however the idea of systematically muting people with enough bad rep can easily be abused. there are many corperations and alliances that have plenty of members to perform a DOS style griefing attack leading to false mutings :Its all fun and games untill your logistics guy tries passive tanking his raven: |

Technically, those scums are spamming, and it's all about ISK, so the "Report ISK Spammer" option is technically the right one to use. Now of course CCP needs to do something about it afterwards, right? RIGHT? ...gis sdrawkcaB |

treat posting in local as advertising. to post, one must pay (number of people in local)+100 ISK. :) ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

Edited by: Marlona Sky on 21/01/2011 10:51:28 In high sec, I suggested only people that are visible on grid with you should be in your 'local' channel. Could possible work for the whole game in my opinion.
EDIT: Of course a new intuitive directional scanning system would need to be introduced, but you get the idea.
