ok there is a wide debate going around in my corp about what is good enough to make your play experiencing enjoyable hardware/software wise. and I said playing on my system with the EVGA quad SLI mobo with GTX 480's and a complete surround sound system, played on a custom 180cm(72") led 3d tv was the only way to do it. They disagreed and said it was too much for eve. And now I want to know what everyone things to much??
Full system spec's: Evga quad sli/ GTX 480 the big tv the surround sound core i9 Windows 7 ultimate special edition.

There is no "too much" for any good gaming experience. Currently I am looking to get 5 more 24" widescreen monitors for a 6 monitor ultra wide/tall setup so I can run 2 EvE clients one on top of the other in 5760x1080. Or I can have the 3 on top for web browsing, Netflix/Youtube/Hulu and a spare just in case. The only downside right now is that the only such card I can find to support this in a single card is made by ATI. Either way if it makes you happy then its not too much.
I also plan to build a reclining chair that has the monitors and computer built into it so you can recline and have the monitors move to stay in front of your head.

Pretty sweet, but not enough.
My setup: CPU ... Dual Giga-core Super Quantum Superposition 64THz Liquid-Nitrogen cooled processors RAM ... InfiniRAM uncertainty RAM. Upper limit is unknown and undefined. Monitor ... Retinal projection contacts I had your surround system previously, but it gave me nose bleeds, so I satisfy myself with my THX 23.1 bluetooth aural implants Running on a Windows emulator which I programmed myself using only hex code and my toes running on a QNX real-time OS

SLI doesn't work in EVE. You'd be better going 4x 6870's if you wanted the most out of each card, due to almost 100% scaling, and Crossfire works in EVE. ---

You won't play EVE on that one. You'll be sitting in front of that TV hypnotized and drooling while constantly repeating "The stars, man... look at the stars"

It's the processor part, I challenge you to find an i9 for sale since it hasn't been released.

lol it is too much for eve doesnt take advantage of such a system.
Sound sucks as does the music, gfx are ok but the effects suck.I can think of a hundred other games that do take advantage of it though.
And btw hardware doesnt cost all that anymore

Not enough info. Sound card? Ram? HDD?
Also, there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to gaming.

Hmmm, I can't find any web article that isn't from 2009 saying it'll be released in 2010... Anyone have a link to discredit his claim that he doesn't have one. It seems one possibly was sold on Ebay, but I couldn't find a confirmation that the sale was legit. But yes, I also can't find one for sale :(
