I watched the Eve Incursion trailer yesterday, this morning I wake up to 52k pilots online, havent seen that for a while, now it may be a coincidence , but these trailers are pretty cool, and seem to get more people in the game.
Maybe theres something psychological about it , in that these trailers seem to make the game come alive for people and enhance the playing experience by adding a certain dimension to the game that wasn't there before.
How about a feature film length "trailer" CCP, or an Eve lore novel made into one. Once a year would be enough and I'm sure many players would enjoy it, and new players would be more tempted to join in the game.
Thoughts from fellow sci-fi fans........

As I always reply to this topic...
A movie based on EVE Canon could be as epic as anything else for any sci-fi fan, eve player or not. Just even more so for us. There is plenty of fiction to choose from and use as a basis for a professionally written script.
Making the GAME into a movie would be a horribad idea. "EVE: Crouching Tiger, Lagging Dragon" ---

I can imagine Uwe Bol now... stomping into CCP's offices DEMANDING that he be given the rights to make an EVE movie...
In all seriousness though, I'm of the opinion that there are some games that don't work well as a movie and EVE would be one of them (Lemmings being the other). :)

Some games aren't truly meant for feature films. However, others can be feature films if you can get it done right. In the case of Eve Online, if I ever had the skills of a video-editing and production expert, I would most likely invest in making a feature film of Eve Online. Why? Mainly because of the depth of the storyline. In games like Lora Croft: Tomb Raider or Doom, the storyline isn't deep enough and don't usually leave room for awesome sequels like the Star Wars legacy did. But in Eve online, the story is already so deep, we probably have to make a multitude of feature films in order to project the entire nature and essence of life in New Eden.
The waring 0.0 alliances, the ruthless factions like the Blood Raiders, Dread Guristas, and Sansha's Nation, the political climates between the four rival empires, the effect that one individual capsuleer can have on the entire universe, the fluctuating free market of New Eden, the story of the Minmatar slaves being held by religious bigots like the Amarr Empire, the idealogical clash of Gallente liberalism and Caldari nationalism.
Eve is not some game with a short and easy story. In fact, it's large number of chronicles are a testament to how deep Eve Online really is. Doom, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and other such movies have usually been quite disappointing because the games they are based upon don't have a deep-enough storyline (I think I just repeated myself).

Fully agreed!
That's why I hope that Incarna will have the same options as the Half-Life engine that was used for the character's animations in Clear Skies so we can have more machinima fan vids. I ab****ely loved it, very impressive!! But well I guess it won't ... ;(

For that full Eve effect, the fight scenes in an Eve movie would have to shot in a slide-show style.
