Learning skills may be daunting as first, but I recently just maxed out my learning skills =). It was easy when I went to school I put a learning skill in and it was kind of neat knowing I was learning in school and in game. You could also do it while at work. Sure you lose 6-8 hours from another skill but long term it rocks. If your work 40 hours a week that's 160 hours a month which is 6.6 days (not speced for learning) which is about the time it takes to get r1 learning skills to 5 from 4 =). In 4-5 months you will have passively trained all the basic learning skills. With advanced learning skills it was 17 days for the unspecced skills. This is about 3.3 months therefore 3.3 months x 5= 16.5 months= 1 year 4 months 15 days
In two years you can have max learning which sounds like a long time but in reality would you rather have that 4.5 million elsewhere?
P.S. um don't know how to format tabs or spaces to indicate new paragraphs which is fubar but w/e

Confirming that you do indeed have the required "too much time on your hands" for learning skills to 5/5 if you think it's worth wasting our time with this stupid thread again. ---

Why do you think that would be better? you just waste time learning a skill at slow rate. Take them first to 4/4 doesn't take long at all. But after that it get slow so take one learning to 5 and then learn something that use that skill. Doing that you learn the same skills as your way but you would learn them a bit faster.

Learning skills are important, but they are useless if you are not having fun and decide to quit the game WELL BEFORE you meet the break-even point of training them in the first place.
You would be a fool for not taking at least the basics up to level 3, considering how fast the payback time is (compared to the 21-day trial period that most new pilots get). While I said that learning skills are important, the fact that you won't be able to reach your potential without taking them up to at least level 3 is troubling.
Here's hoping the new pilot implants you get when whatever part of Incursion it's in comes out will help!

Oh well if mister Azvec is determined to play EVE for at least 5 years it's not such a bad idea to train his learning skills first.
It's not a prerequisite to be in any hurry or play fanatically from day #1 of your subscription.
