I am looking to buy a new laptop just play EVE. Sadly all laptop reviews only have very demanding games and mainstream titles which gives no idea what is actually needed to run EVE on high settings. It would be very kind if those of you who play EVE on a laptop share what laptop you're on and how well the game runs.
Couldn't find any thread like this with search engine. Id there is one already please tell me without flaming me to death.

That's a good question OP, but much more important - How long will it take the mods to move this into OOPE?

Dell XPS 15 (the new ones)
I have everything in high detail running in 1080p and it runs like butter. (its runs black ops like butter as well)
I can run two clients on two separate screens no problem at all as well.

etc
play single account on 1920x1080 with HDR, shadows. and everything on max except bloom, medium. medium size fleets runs around 40-60 fps.

its very good for eve :)
it runs 4 eve clients with out any problems

I'm a couch potato and this laptop is small enough to not be a hassle and still has enough punch to play most of the games I'm interessted in quite well. Even manages multiple Clients at the same time (have all details turned down thou and a external screen).
I can also recommend using Game Booster.

EVE runs great on my Macbook Pro, either the OSX client or if I load Windows in Bootcamp and run that one.

Very helpful. I get the impression I can run the game very well on a mid-range laptop if i don't max out all the graphics settings.

I have the new 2010 version of the MacBook Air. I have the 11.6 inch one though.
And suprisingly it runst EVE pretty good. I have everything on max except for Texture Quality and LOD Quality that are on Medium.
And i don't use Anti-Aliasing. So when i do that, i have about 30 fps in average outside of Jita 4-4 with lots of ships.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 runs well on medium graphic to. Aion - Tower Of Eternity runs pretty smooth even with max graphic and full anti-aliasing. Even Crysis Warhead runs fine on it. But you will have to use Minimum or Mainstream on some options but mostly on Minimum before the game runs rather smooth.
I have also tried S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call Of Pripyat on it, and it runs okish. Metro 2033 was to much for the laptop heh. I had problems to run it even on lowest possible graphic.
It also runst Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Audition very good. ofc this is for more easy tasks. For more heavy tasks it will be pretty slow to render things and that.
And the new MacBook Air laptop is just insanly fast. I use about 14 secs to boot up Mac OS X after i press the power button. But i don't use Mac OS X much though. I have only Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on it, so i have installed Mac OS X on my external harddrive on a seperate partition.
The laptop is also very thin and weight almost nothing.
So the 999 dollars i used on it was worth it. My plan was to buy a Sony VAIO S12M9E/B laptop. But when i found out how freaking slow those laptops can be with a poor 5400 RPM harddrive, then i went for the MacBook Air instead.
And the thing that made me happy with this laptop is that 720p and 1080p MKV movies runs totally smooth. But that's only when you run the movies via the GeForce 320M GPU.
You might wonder why Apple decided to use some years old Intel Core 2 Duo CPU in the new MacBook Air machines. Here is an explanation on why.
I will say good choice by Apple there.

Sony Vaio EB series.
2.53Ghz i5 540, 4gb DDR3, 512mb HD5470, 320gb 7200RPM HDD.
Runs eve at 30-40fps at 1920x1080 on an external HDMI monitor. Settings medium/high.
Runs other games:
Black Ops, well, on built in screen only, 1366x768.
Bad Company 2; not very well, on minimum settings.
Dragon Age Origins: maxed settings, on the 1080p screen, 30ish FPS.
MassEffect2 Runs well, but can't really play because I have issues with the sensitivities, can't find one that I like.
Haven't installed Crysis on it yet, expect it to run decently.
StarCraft2: the 1080 on Medium High, don't notice any stutters.
Overall, it runs CPU intensive games well, and GPU intensive games ok.

If you're looking for a powerful laptop, that is still at a decent price, I recommend the new Dell XPS15. It has by far the best performance for the price of any laptop that I've seen currently. Excepting maybe Asus.

I have a HP Compaq nc6220
It doesnt run eve... at all 
Though it does run teamviewer which means i can stream eve from my desktop which runs it on all high settings

My old IBM laptop could only run olde EVE graphics. What is the best, if any, remote viewing server\client for directx like eve graphics? Teamviewer is very expensive./EDIT: Oh it's free.

Bought a maxed out Alienware M11X a few weeks back to replace my Asus EEE-1000H.
Intel Core i7 U640M 1.20GHz (Overclocked to 1.5GHz)
8GB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR3
640GB HDD
etc.
Plays eve maxed out at 1366x768 and maintains a solid 60FPS with Vsync enabled at all times.
Not bad at all.

i use an asus x70io.
using 1600x900 res and running everything on max exept bloom which is off.
the fps is from 30-60 depending on how many ships is around me.
not bad for an allmoust 2 year old laptop imo.

When you looks at other 11.6 inch laptops, you simply can't find any other 11.6 laptops that even comes close to be as thin and light in weight and have the same performace as the MacBook Air. Not even close.
Please find me a better 11.6 laptop that also are in aluminium.
It's the same with cars. Someone want as much horsepower as possible, but someone else want to pay much more for a car that takes you from A to B that have extremely good comfort and a car that is out of high quality that looks very good.
Those peoples doesn't cares about having most horsepower as possible.

As long as the CPU and GPU and SSD disk performance combined beats other 11.6 inch laptops out of the water, then it's far from being a hype .
You should really try out the new MacBook Air laptop yourself to really see how crazy fast this laptop is.
I had no freaking idea my self that the MacBook Air was this fast.
So why do you think i went for the MacBook Air instead of the Sony VAIO S12 laptop with a slow ass 5400 RPM hdd?

I have used my brothers Macbook Pro. Its very slimline and you cant leave it on your lap unless you want roasted vegetables.

Yeah, I wanted to try out OS X and just went out and got a MacBook. Don't get me wrong the laptop physically is nice but they are overpriced for what you get. As for OSX I have to agree with the picture above that OSX has training wheels. But I have nothing against Apple or OSX they're nice, but not for me.
So as of a week ago I trashed OSX and installed Win7 on it.
Also am thinking strongly of just selling it and getting something with a discrete GPU.

Huh?
The M11x is the undisputed king of speedy Netbooks systems (though it does have a bit more weight to it). It works at roughly twice the rate of the Air (e.g. gets things done in half the time) - and can be outfitted with vastly superior SSDs. The TS064C performs at a measly 20mb/s at standard size 4kb random reads, where the Intel X18/X25 does 60. Sustained difference is smaller (200 vs. 250) and sustained write is actually faster (80 vs. 185); but for random writes (standard writes), the TS64C again looses with an appalling 5mb/s versus 40.
In case you need a history lesson - the reason early OCZ drives were so appalling with actual use compared to Intel's drives many years ago was because they focused on Sustained speeds while completely ignoring and sacrificing random. They became virtually unusable as a system drive because it would frequently cause complete system lockups from overloading the write que. The TS064C appears to repeat the mistakes from years past, though less severely.
I should also point out I used Intel's SSDs above - they are about a 1.5 years old now, and there are ample of newer better performing (in writes especially) SSDs it can be replaced by.
Sure its certainly nicer to have a SSD compared to a mechanical drive; but as SSDs come - its certainly one of the worst out there; its many years behind in development - in one of the fastest developing computer markets out there. It utterly fails to beat Intels drives, and Intels drives in turn fail to beat most other newer (and many cheaper) SATA-SSDs as well.
The Air has a nice balance of weight and power where I don't believe it is currently beatable, and it does have a much above average screen - though obviously these comes at a cost of its own.
