I love the new fixed window mode, but it doesn't quite fill the area above my (Windows 7) task-bar, so there is a strip about 20 pixels high across screen between the Eve display and the taskbar. Not a significant problem, obviously, but a constant slight irritation.
Is anyone else seeing this?

I am assuming you have 'maximised' EVE using Windows to fill the screen and then used that resolution to switch into fixed window mode. e.g for me 'maximising' gives a resolution of 1920x1018 compared to my total resolution of 1920x1080. Which I did and saw the gap you are talking about.
This is because Windows still uses a small amount of space for it's own border on the top for the window functions like minimise, maximise and close.
There is not a quick option to fix this inside Windows.
But if you google for the height of the taskbar, which is 30px for small icons and 40px for normal icons, you can add a custom resolution to your system equal to your screen width x height-taskbar height. so e.g for me this resolution would be 1920x1040 40px off my normal 1920x1080 resolution since I use normal icons.
How you do this depends on your graphic chip maker, nVidia can do this directly in the nVidia control panel, AMD/ATI might be able to do this in the CCC, though I have never got it to work and required me to use a registry change to add the resolution and that requires a restart to take effect (also needs to be done each time you update or reinstall your AMD/ATI drivers) ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Yep, that's what I'm seeing.
I guess the perfect solution from my perspective would be for the Eve client to automatically add the height of the title bar to the display size when switching to fixed window mode.

I noticed this earlier today too, however, when I went into the resolution options to check it was set to my actual desktop size (1080) it was actually only set to a res. of 1920x1020 for some reason...
Switching it to 1920x1080 fixed it. I guess, switching from 'windowed' to 'fixed' mode, must have changed the sizes.....

The Client appears to remember its last windowed state, so if you played with the new stretchy borders then applied "fixed window" mode it uses whatever resolution you left it at.
I have 2 monitors, #1 is 1080 and #2 is 1200, If I set the windowed mode client to 1080 on monitor 1, then move it to the 1200 and apply fixed window I get a 120 gap at the bottom.
I actually make use of this to expose my task bar and any other apps I have running.
To sort the problem set the client to the default screen res in full screen mode then go from there to fixed window.

Fixed client seems to always position itself at left most top corner as soon as you switch to that mode. While it will remember the size you had resized it to before, running 2 clients on the same screen side by side is impossible. Is there any way around it or am I missing something here?

Does anyone know if you can give Eve a custom resolution inside the client? I have 3 nvidia cards, and I know with previous drivers you could create a fake resolution, but not anymore.

easy, just change the display adapter. problem solved

if you set the window size in normal windowed mode with a window mover(i use shiftwindow), when you swap to fixed window, it will use that resolution until you change it

What worked for me was to use the Nvidia Control Panel that came with my laptop to add a custom resolution (1920x1032 compared to actual screen res of 1920x1080). This then showed up in the list of resolutions in the Eve client, so I was able to select this and the fixed window mode to get what I want. I now have the Eve client filling the entire screen apart from the Windows task bar at the bottom. Beautiful.

This is completely missing the point.
This option is supposed to exist so that an outside window mover isn't necessary.
