I'd like to see a third mid slot added to the Noctis, for a total of three. This would allow the fitting of a codebreaker, Analyzer, and AB for lootsalvaging profession sites. With only 2 mids fitting a codebreaker and analyzer will result in you moving far slower than a Hurricane salvager with an AB and shield mod.

The trick to the noctis is that you don't need to move much due to its incredible tractor beam range. If there's a lot of stuff out of your range, you can bookmark it and warp out, then warp back to your bookmark. That will get you there faster than a microwarpdrive will. In fact, in many sites, you'll have enough room to warp directly to stuff in the distance.
Perhaps it would be better to make a second version of the ORE industrial, one made for archaeology and hacking. This one could have several mid slots, less mass, and more speed. This would enable it to move freely between non-tractorable containers, while its smaller cargohold wouldn't be a problem for these sites. It would have increased codebreaker and analyzer range. You could still fit salvagers and/or tractor beams to its (2?) high slots; this way either ship can perform both tasks, but each is specialized to one. |

I like this idea better. We need to stop trying to make one ship the solo pwnmobile in a particular role. --Vel

I agree with Reaver. that's an excellent idea. I have been using a Catalyst as my salvager but obviously, the low capacity cargo hold and terrible power/cpu doesn't make it very good. This ship is much better; but yes, it could definitely do with a third mid slot, regardless if either roles.
How many tractors and salvagers have you guys fitted? I have 2x tractors and 6 salvagers. having 3 med cap control circuits really helps cap recharge.
Excellent ship!

hi.
I have fitted: 4 T2 salvagers, 4 tractor beams, 1 10mn afterburner, 3 expanded cargoholds and 3 medium salvage tackle rigs and it capstable

So far I have - HS - 5 tractor beams, 3 salvagers MS - 10mm microwarpdrive, shield extender LS - armor booster Rigs - salvage, engine booster
Doing great with this setup. I find it funny to watch the ship looking down on it when all 8 beams are running.
Haven't decided what to put in the other LS points or last rig spot.
Haven't come across a need to increase the cargo hold.
Reaver makes a good point in having another specialized ship for archeology and hacking.

Anyone know the math behind these? The description says and improvement in chance of success of 10% (for tech I). Does that take a base chance of 20% to 22%? Or does it take the base chance of 20% to 30%?

i wote for 1 more mid slot. Why ? having another specialized hacking/anal ship is very nice idea,but.....it takes 4 years to ccp to make specialized salvage ship. Think about how long it will take to make specialized "combat field technican". ------------------------------------------------

Just a question, has anyone ever tried destroying the data shards or archeological sites in order to yield a hackable/analyzable cargo container? I haven't tested this out since the last few Radar sites have eluded me.
This would make the Noctis pretty good for that role as a codebreaker and analyzer but I'm not sure if it's possible to destroy archeological or hackable sites. I was told once that it might trigger a CONCORD reaction but again I'm not certain. I was wondering if any of you have ever tried it. :)

It's an additional 10%.
So if you have salvage 2 (15% chance) and fit 3 rigs, it's a 45% chance.
It also counts as skill. You need Salvaging IV to salvage tech2 wrecks, but with Salvaging II and rigs, you can do it. |

well i got 4/4 Tractor/salvager t2 with 3x salvage rig and it give you a total of 65% chance and the skill is lvl 5 like all the other scanner t2 that exist ( salvager t2 rig all 3 of them give a total of 80% chance). The rest is rather common a ab and shild ext for mid and 3 cargo exp for the low

The only change I really think the Noctis needs is more tank. Seriously it takes as much material to build as a BC it should have more structural integrity than a frigate for crying out loud.
