I was docking but noticed i was stuck with just a starfield onscreen but no ship. I logged out, hoping to find myself in thestation when I logged back in.
Unfortunatly now all i get is a black screen...That char is training for 5 days so I can't even train up an alt!
Help!

Ive had EXACTLY the same issue. I was docking and it fell over half way through.
Ive tried logging back on and as soon as I select character I just get a black screen.
Ive tried this on my housemates pc too with same results
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

Ive just been told by my housemate that apparently earlier a message came out sayin Emrayur 3 Royal Amaarr Institue school is to be avoided at all costs as people are 'losing' their characters there ....Im pretty sure thats where i was when it crashed.
My housemate can log on with his character and I cannot ....I'm SO angry because this message never popped up on my screen. In fact Im fuming !!

I was in a caldari system when it happened to me, so its probably something else?

apparently you have to petition GM to unlock your character.
I 'think' ive done it but no resolution yet

Same problem here. Black screen that I cant get past. Sent a petition in game with other character.

Iv had this black screen problem after jumping. I go to the jump gate the ship jumps and seems like it just carries on leaving me looking at the gate. Iv restarted the game + reinstalled but all I got was a black screen after character selection ...luckily a friend on another internet connection docked my ship with my password....then 8 hours after the same thing happened to him but I could not help him just got the black screen again.

I am having the same problem. The game ran fine for 2 days, then locked up. I restarted my computer, then when I try to start the game, all I get is a black screen with stars and no login. I have tried all of the updated video and directX9 drivers and searched far and wide through the Support page and have no solution.
This is a problem for allot fo people, we all need help!
CCP, please look into this

yer i hav that same prob and well im not starting agane coz well its to dam long to do what ive dun wuth this caricter
can any1 help me!!!!
um one thing how do i tell ccp that my caricter is loked and i would like it not to be :)

Guys your character is "stuck" ingame, you need to petition ingame with a different character to have the char moved to another place, this will "unstuck" the char and you should be able to play.
To get around the problem, when you try and dock or jump and get a blank screen (no ship just stars) let it run dont log out or restart, till a "connection lost" box comes up. You should be able to relog then and everything will be just fine, well thats what I was told to do when the same thing happened to me.
Im surprised the GM's havnt replied to these or made a sticky on it because its a very common bug that needs to be sorted quickly.

Th's right guys, u are stuck in space. Please don't try to re-install the whole Eve again, because it will be just a waste of time. It is because the server can not recoginse the ship while u interrupted the data while u were either docking or wraping to stargate.
But the problem should be resolved after CCP do the shut down everyday at 11 - 12.

this has happened to me this morning, whilst jumping a gate.
Lets hope you are right that things should be sorted after the downtime. Hopefully I b playing again tonight.
Have any of you guys had the problem sorted?
Don't perticularly want to create another char. and then petition, and then await the result.
