K this is a stupid question but I just dont know the answer.
What is a PDU, what type of unit is it and what kind of effect does it give? I see alot of people talking about this in the forums but I have totally no clue what they are talking about. Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

Power Diagnostic Unit - it's a low slot item that boosts cap, cap recharge, powergrid, shields, and shield recharge. All with low values, though. Tech 1 give between 4 and 7(?) percent bonuses to each of these. ---

Actually, it's funny that they're called that since their actual name is Power Diagnostic _System_, not Unit. And I heard someone say on the forums that the total cap recharge bonus they give, when the max cap bonus is calculated into the value, is around 14% meaning they are a great low slot substitute for Cap rechargers. The shield and power boni make up for the lesser recharge bonus.

I imagine the 'U' crept in cos some of the attributes it affects are boosted by other components which feature "unit" in the name, eg. the Reactor Control Unit. ------

IIRC..
And I maybe be wrong, but I think I remember that in beta they actually were called Power Diagnostic Unit, or there was a named version that said "Unit" at the end.. So it just became the convention to call them that. |
