I was wondering, if I have done a scan, and I get some results with IDs for example XYX123 or ABC456, if I leave the system and come back, or come back after the downtime, and scan again, will the sites have the same IDs? (providing the site is still there)
Thanks |

IDs change at downtime. Any site that spawns at downtime will have the same three figures (or close enough that you can pick out the old sites by quick glance). |

Thanks for the info.

See now you are just confusing him.
Yes sig ID's change whenever there is a server reboot. Typically only at downtime. (or patch days!)
As to your other question.

Yeah, fair enough. Should have left well enough alone. |

which is why i think this change to how IDs are generated is not elegant. You don't even have to start looking at signal strengths sometimes when looking for what signatures to probe. The IDs used to be totally random and i think it was okay that way. |

I didnGÇÖt like it when it came in either, but now IGÇÖm a fan. It provides me with a heap more useful information easily. Variations on the logic that Zhilia describes has reduced the number of objects I scan fully when I am looking for something. Those IDs, their sig-size to a single DSP, and your knowledge and resources provide quite a bit of information GǪ and I loves information :-)
