I fly galantee I like gallente ships. I'm probably going to join gal FW. Now don't get me wrong I like interceptors. But I love EAF, all of them. I have some skillpoints coming on the 14th (pretty much all I have). So I'll be in frigate hulls working on my core skills. I want to only train EAF to V and not interceptors III assault ships III and eaf III. I want EAF V and high navigation skills, engineering skills and electronic warfare skills.
The keres can disrupt from 40 km and suprees range really well. I want to be fleet support with that and not an interceptor. Everyone flys says I have to fly an interceptor and I will be left out of fleets in my keres. Is that true? Do I have to fly a interceptor? or can I fly the keres and do my EW? What do/will people thing?

In time, you will learn what the better option is for different scenarios, until then do whatever you want and fly what makes you happy.

Pointing stuff at huge distances is highly useful in FW and specifically on large gates (where a lot of folk will blindly jump since there's less risk of being pointed). Anyone who thinks this is not desireable in an FW gang is a dumbass. Train it up and enjoy it if that's what you want to do

At max skills a Keres gets 36km out of a Warp Disruptor II and the bonused Interceptor gets 30km. Inteceptor is faster and has a reduced signature penalty from MWD use ... a Keres fits Remote Sensor Dampeners. The extra tackle range can be useful depending on the situation but a typical Inty will cover that distance in less than 1.5s. Against small numbers of targets a fully skilled Keres will damp a single targets targeting range to under 10km using 3 damps ... this can be very useful depending on the situation since a Keres can tackle while preventing a target lock.
Choice is yours :)

Since Faction Warefare takes place in Low sec becareful who you Tackle. If they are Nuetrals above -5 you will pick up gate gun agro and pop quick.
So try to limit your targets on gates to enamies or let them attack first. If you do attack first make sure you are not in range of counter tackle to make a quick gettaway from gate guns when a friendly gets point.

when overheated the difference is more noticeable, 43.2 to 36, with gang link, even more. Not saying that keres is better, just that it has a role as well as the std inty.

I fly both the Keres and various different inties in Minnie FW. They both have their uses, but I'd say they're not interchangeable.
The scan res on a Keres, even if you fit a sensor booster, isn't great, so you will miss a lot of tackles on gates unless you're pointing slow-aligning stuff or being remote sensorboosted. In that respect an inty will do you better. The Keres' ability to sensor damp in addition to pointing, however, is *extremely* useful in a variety of situations.
I would suggest you train up for both inties and EAFs. The inty is a better learning boat, in my opinion - they are useful in just about any fleet, and their speed and agility gives you a fighting chance to get out alive if you bite off more than you can chew. The Keres is a more 'specific' boat, and I'd try and build up some experience in the Gallente warzone and get a feel for how the fleets work and what's useful in what situation first. It's also more expensive (albeit not that much) than your average inty, and if you're getting used to something new that can really add up.
I love the Keres, by the way, so I'm certainly not discouraging you from flying it. It's not, however, a ship that will slot easily into any fleet and any situation.

If a gang mate fits a pair of scripted Remote SeBos to boost the Keres, it'll be sitting at over 2100mm resolution and still have all of its mids for tackle & EWar mods.
Throw in a pair of Targeting System Subcontrollers & a KNB-50 implant and it's over 3000mm.
If that's not fast enough, I don't know what is.

If price and durability is an issue, a Celestis is a nice cruiser for the same job. I share your same love of EAF's...esecially tackling kitsunes, but after going through 40 of 'em I finally stoped...granted most of the time they suicided on more expensive targets, but hey, 40 t2 frigs adds up vs. other stuff you can fly \o |

The Keres (I love it) is for medium-sized gangs where people know each other WELL. Keres can take the points from the inties as they grab them and control even a regional gate. Damping ability is frankly awesome.
Its not a solo ship, or even a small gang ship. If you want that then you should be looking at a Sentinel (in the EAF class) or a Taranis.
My one bit of advice to you would be don't fly any ship in PvP at level 3. Ever. Doesn't matter what the panic is, just don't do it.
Level 4 is an absolute minimum and Level 5 is compulsory for some ship classes (Interceptors & Covops spring to mind). |

I agree, hence I said...

Unfortunately in my experience that's not something you can always count on in a FW gang, especially not a mixed militia one. If you can get someone to fit the remote sebo's, awesome, if you can't, you might struggle a little bit.
I do agree it can be done, just for the record!
